The entry limit of the World Championships will be 25 teams but for the first year the event has an open invitation for any team to enter on a first come, first serve principle. However in the future the M32 World Championships will change and the entry in to the event will be through qualifications in the M32 Series around the world or at specific M32 qualifying events. “The interest around the class is growing rapidly in Europe, North America and Asia and we are very excited to have the first World Championships for the class.” comments Mattias Dahlström, president of the M32 Class Association and continues, “This will give the different M32 teams around the world a chance to measure up against each other and see who is the best. In the long run it will also give the different events and series around the world something extra to strive for via the qualification system.”

Marstrand is certainly used to hosting major competitions in sailing with championships in classes like the RC44, IMS, ORCi and several Olympic classes. The organizing yacht club will make sure the island turns on its charm once again. “Marstrand is such a special place for sailors with spectacular and challenging racing waters just outside the harbor.” says Thomas Rahm, director at the Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club. “But the combination of racing with the summer life on this beautiful island makes the experience truly unique, even for non-sailors.”

The M32 class association has appointed Aston Harald Sports, owner of the World Match Racing Tour, and the Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club to organize and produce the World Championships. The M32 Class is an official World Sailing class and the M32 World Championships will be sanctioned from the Swedish Sailing Federatio
