Marina Port Valencia steps up sustainability commitment with NetBoat
Marina Norte has once again underlined its commitment to the environment and its determination to help shape a more sustainable future for the Mediterranean. Following the recent opening of the Cátedra del Mar Innovation Centre, the marina has taken its sustainability strategy a step further with the launch of NetBoat, a cutting-edge electric vessel designed to keep its waters pristine.
The presentation, held on Friday 8 May, was attended by Mar Chao, Chairwoman of Valencia Port Authority; Patrick Reynés, CEO of Marina Port Valencia; and Moisés Curañas Cardona, Director of Ona Safe & Clean, the company behind the vessel's technological development.
Powered by technology developed specifically for water cleaning, NetBoat ushers in a new generation of service vessels. Its standout feature is a fully electric propulsion system, allowing it to operate with zero emissions and no noise pollution while integrating seamlessly into day-to-day marina life without disrupting the yachting community or visitors.
Constructed from certified marine-grade aluminium and designed with a catamaran-style hull, the vessel delivers outstanding stability and manoeuvrability, even in tight spaces. Fitted with a multi-task cleaning system, NetBoat can collect floating waste, remove hydrocarbons and surface oils, and oxygenate the water as it operates, actively enhancing environmental conditions across the marina.
During the presentation, Patrick Reynés highlighted that "NetBoat isn't just a cleaning tool, but a statement of intent about the marina model we want to build for the future". What's more, he stressed that this new addition is part of a broader roadmap centred around innovation, decarbonisation and active conservation of the Mediterranean.
For his part, Moisés Curañas explained the vessel's technical capabilities, noting that it is designed to work up to sixteen hours thanks to its electrical system reinforced with built-in solar panels. The CatClean 75 model measures 7.5 metres in length with a 2.5-metre beam, delivering a hydrocarbon retention capacity of up to 2,000 litres alongside an approximate cleaning capacity of 8.89 km² per hour.
The arrival of NetBoat builds on Marina Norte's commitment to sustainable innovation, anchoring Marina Port Valencia as a leading force in the adoption of responsible technologies in the yachting industry. Beyond its operational role, the new vessel symbolises a different way of engaging with the sea: more conscious, more efficient and better aligned with the environmental challenges of today and tomorrow.
