ISA Yachts unveils Essence 82m, designed by Igor Lobanov

ISA Yachts, a brand of Palumbo Superyachts, presents ISA Essence 82m, the third project in its ISA Large Yacht Collection of large tailor-made yachts. Igor Lobanov is responsible for the exterior and interior design, while ISA Yachts developed the naval architecture. The yacht has a length overall of 82 metres, a beam of 12.80 metres and a gross tonnage of around 2,250 GT. The full displacement hull is built in steel and the superstructure in aluminium. Power comes from two MTU 16V4000M63L engines rated at 2,240 kW each. The builder gives a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, with an expected range of about 6,200 nautical miles at 12 knots. Two pairs of non-retractable stabiliser fins with zero speed function are fitted for use both underway and at anchor.

According to ISA Yachts, the design sets out to combine balanced proportions and proven solutions with new experiences on board, while deliberately keeping its distance from current styling trends. The yard describes clean lines and an architecture that reads at first glance; at closer range come sculpted surfaces, carefully studied curves, three-dimensional elements and graphic details. "In designing Essence we did not want to follow a trend. Trends inevitably belong to a particular moment, and our aim was exactly the opposite: to create a yacht that can stay contemporary over time. In ten years I would like Essence to look just as current as it does today. To reach this balance we worked on solid, recognisable proportions, bringing in innovation through the surfaces, the details and the way the spaces are lived in," said Igor Lobanov.

The yard says the 82-metre layout includes features normally associated with yachts of 90 or even 100 metres. These include a touch-and-go helipad designed to be genuinely operational, a lift connecting the decks up to the sun deck, and a garage for two tenders of up to 10 metres, with space for a third crew tender of around 7 metres. At the stern, a beach club of about 144 square metres opens out onto two fold-down side terraces. On the main deck above, the pool has a transparent bottom that lets natural light into the beach club below and creates a visual link between the two spaces.

Accommodation is arranged in seven cabins for 12 guests, with quarters for 21 crew. The owner's suite takes the traditional forward position on the upper deck, but one of the less conventional choices concerns how it connects to the rest of the deck: instead of a central corridor, a side passage facing outboard keeps the sea in view all the way. On the bridge deck, the aft area is given over entirely to wellness rather than to a further saloon, with a gym, sauna, massage area, shower and pool. ISA Yachts, which belongs to Palumbo Superyachts together with Columbus, Mondomarine and Extra, is currently building a 100-metre superyacht that will become the yard's new flagship.
