Ustica - Started from Venice to Genova on the November 7th, the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce-Fincantieri Cup is the longest no-stop sailing race of the Mediterranean. Organized by Difesa Servizi S.p.A., SSI Events and Marina Militare, the race is sailed with a ten boats Beneteau Figaro 3 fleet and counts on a 50.000 Euros prize pool.

After 6 days at sea, having experienced some good sailing conditions, the fleet has reached the southern Italian seas and is spreaded between the island of Ustica, in front the Sicilian town of Palermo, and Crotone, on the Calabria's southern shoreline.

First hour leader Sophie Faguet and Pierre Leboucher are still in command. Team Urban Value, after suffering among the lack of wind that affected the navigation along the southern coast of Sicily, hooked up some fresh breeze in front of Trapani and accelerated towards the Amalfi gate, bringing the advantage over Team Venezia Salone Nautico (Cecilia Zorzi-Alessandro Torresani) and Team Softway (Pam Lee-Andrea Fornaro), engaged in a downwind navigation in sight of Favignana and Levanzo, in over 50 miles.

Over the next few hours It will be interesting to observe the evolution of the weather: according to the forecasts, within 24/36 hours on the Central Tyrrhenian Sea the situation should deteriorate, with the south-southeast wind could strengthen, by reaching 35 knots in some areas; it should also be considered that the sea state should increase accordingly to the wind.

Behind Zorzi-Torresani and Lee-Fornaro, separated by about 8 miles, the battle for the fourth place is always on.

Just after Capo Passero, then about 35 miles from the Licata gate, over 130 far from Team Urban Value, Marina Militare (Elisabetta Maffei-Federico Piani) defends the fourth position from the "usual" travel companions: Team ENIT (Irene Bezzi- Pietro D'Alì), Team Acone (Catherine Hunt-Alexis Thomas) and Team Sanfer (Maggie Adamson-Matteo Ichino), engaged in a really slow upwind navigation, all gathered within 6 miles.

Looking at rear, the eight position is owned by Genoa TOR (Dominique Knuppel-Guillerno Altadill), ten miles ahead of Aeronautica Militare (Margherita Digrazia-Giancarlo Simeoli), with which it sails around 8 knots to the Sicilian coasts and to the group led by the Marina Militare's team.

Closing the ranking Team Fratelli Visconti (Lisa Berger-Alex Laline), passed the gate of Crotone around 3AM of this morning, still fighting recover ground after the problem suffered to the mainsail during the second day or racing, problem solved by stopping for a pitstop in San Benedetto del Tronto.
