La Spezia, 16-1-2018 – The Rat für Formgebung, maximum German committee for design, included among the nominees for the 2018 edition of the German Design Award the M/Y “ITALIA” project by PC DESIGN, enclosing it in the transportation category and classifying it as “excellent product design”.

A new and very important result for the studio held by the young designers Matteo Cappellazzo and Mattia Piro, specialized in yacht and vessel and interior design and operating both in the pleasure craft and luxury fields and in professional and residential settings.

“ITALIA” is very much a beast of leisure with a military-grade top speed of 55-60 knots, to leave its marina rivals floundering in its wake. The superstructure moved to the bow is inspired to fighter jets design while the choice to incorporate a glass setting into the teak decking aft is borrowed from the world of supercars to enable the yacht’s owner, crew and guests to admire the engine room. The main deck spans some 40 square meters of space, supplied by a stern platform covering approximately 10 square meters, providing room for up to 16 guests. Additionally, opening the superstructure doors, the inner space of approximately 17 square meters provides continuity with the outer deck.

Other notable features include two sets of gull wing doors which, when opened, reveal jet skis garages on the sides and an alluring living area at the lower deck. The stern platform is equipped with a transformer platform and a hydraulic gangway. The hyper yacht would offer overnight accommodation for four guests and two crew members. The owner’s cabin is set to feature a king-size bed, a wide desk with included vanity and a large bathroom equipped with emotional shower and hammam cabin, double sink, toilet and bidet. The guest cabin, meanwhile, would be equipped with queen-size bed, shower, sink, toilet and bidet. The vessel’s power arrangement features twin 1925 hp CAT C32 ACERT engines and a pair of Twin Disc ASD 14 surface drives.

«This result is a honour and source of pride, for us it is a really fantastic goal. » - Mattia Piro, co-founder and chief designer of PC DESIGN, declares - «We continue to look to the future with trust and optimism and we can’t wait to launch our hyper yacht. ».

The words of Matteo Cappellazzo, co-founder and chief designer of PC DESIGN: «Being at the Frankfurt fairgrounds, together with companies and brands of international relevance and with the excellences of worldwide design for every industry undoubtedly is a great success: we thank the German Design Council for this prize. Ours is a quality and precision job and “ITALIA” is a revolutionary project born for this kind of stages. ».
