C-Cat 65 World Premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival
Just days after the launch of the new C-Cat 65, flagship of Comar Yachts, it’s time to explore the main features of the first maxi catamaran built at the Fiumicino shipyard—making its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
Conceived as a high-performance sport catamaran, the C-Cat 65 is the result of 50 years of boatbuilding experience, 4,500 hours of design work, and over 40,000 hours of construction. The project stems from a collaboration between Comar Yachts, Enrico Contreas, Amadio & Partners studio, Naval Design for FEM and CFD analyses, and the shipyard’s in-house technical office.
The structure of the C-Cat 65 is built in double-cut Corecell sandwich, laminated with epoxy resin through advanced vacuum infusion processes. These materials and methods deliver exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratios, ensuring optimal hydrodynamic and aerodynamic efficiency.
All bulkheads, stringers, and structural elements are both bonded and tabbed. Every item of interior furnishing is custom-built in the yard and designed to be structural, guaranteeing durability and long-term integrity.
The hull is crafted from a carbon and fiberglass composite to ensure rigidity, lightness, and reliability under heavy-duty use. The deck is made entirely of carbon fiber to drastically reduce topside weight and lower the center of gravity.
The daggerboards, also in carbon, are engineered for an optimal balance of lightness and strength, redefining upwind performance and pushing sailing efficiency well beyond conventional cruising multihull standards.
The crossbeam, bowsprit, bulkheads, and all load-bearing structures are made of carbon as well, ensuring torsional stiffness and precise handling even in demanding sailing conditions. The mast, built in-house using carbon prepreg, offers maximum weight reduction, strength, and aerodynamic control.
The result is a stiff, lightweight, and highly responsive platform, capable of converting every wind shift into smooth acceleration and offering millimetric sail handling precision.
The innovative layout places the owner’s suite aft, while the carbon coachroof with reverse rake windows enhances visibility and reduces glare.
The C-Cat 65 is designed for experienced, performance-driven sailors who seek sailing without compromise.
