ARES Yachts has released the first official sailing photography of its 62-metre flagship ketch, SIMENA, captured off Saint-Tropez during her first Mediterranean season.

Making 8.5 to 9.5 knots in 13 to 16 knots of wind at the time of shooting, the images show SIMENA heeling at speed, canvas full and hull cutting cleanly through the water, a striking contrast to the elegance she projects at anchor.

SIMENA has spent her first season actively cruising across the Mediterranean, calling at Monaco, Genoa, Palma de Mallorca, Saint-Tropez and Imperia. The superyacht has logged approximately 3,250 nautical miles so far in 2026, including a non-stop 1,200-nautical-mile delivery passage from Fethiye to Monaco, an offshore crossing of some 400 nautical miles between the Strait of Messina and Cap Corse, and an open-water leg of roughly 380 nautical miles between Kythira and the Messina Strait.

SIMENA is currently cruising in the South of France. Her provisional summer programme includes the French Riviera, a possible stop in Portofino and northern Sardinia during the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup (September 6-12), before her planned arrival in Monaco ahead of the Monaco Yacht Show (23-26 September), where she is expected to be one of the largest sailing superyachts on display.

With exterior design and naval architecture by Istanbul-based Taka Yacht Design and interiors by Design Unlimited, SIMENA ranks among the 25 longest sailing superyachts worldwide.

SIMENA’s ketch rig features a 59-metre mainmast and a 48-metre mizzen mast, carrying a 470-square-metre mainsail, a 249-square-metre mizzen, a 596-square-metre genoa and a 356-square-metre staysail, all supplied by Doyle Sails. Under sail, SIMENA recorded a maximum speed of 16 knots in 20 knots of wind at a 100-degree wind angle, as proven during her sea trials.

SIMENA’s hybrid propulsion system enables quiet generator-powered electric cruising at approximately 8 knots with a calculated range of around 6,000 nautical miles, while her MAN diesel engine provides a maximum speed of 14 knots and an operational range of 4,000 nautical miles at 11 knots.

SIMENA's environmental credentials have been independently verified: she holds a 4-star 'superior' SEA Index rating, a certification developed by the Yacht Club de Monaco and UBS Group, verified by Lloyd's Register. She has also received two nominations at the La Belle Classe Superyachts Explorer Awards.

SIMENA combines the classical character of a clipper bow, teak decks and varnished sipo mahogany with contemporary proportions and refined interior materials, including marble in the guest bathrooms. Accommodation is provided for up to 12 guests in six cabins, including a full-beam Owner’s Suite positioned forward. Her exterior spaces include a cockpit with dining for up to 14 guests, a six-square-metre fold-out swim platform and a discreet sunken flybridge.
