Nauta redesigns interiors of Abeking & Rasmussen's 4K
Italian yacht design studio Nauta has completed an interior restyling of the sailing yacht 4K (formerly Alithia), a 40-metre vessel built by Abeking & Rasmussen. The work, discreet and respectful of the original design, aims to bring freshness back to the interiors without altering their identity.
Launched in 2002, 4K has crossed the world's oceans, covering tens of thousands of nautical miles. Its exterior lines – a vertical bow, a flowing sheer line and a raised doghouse – were ahead of their time and still convey a functional aesthetic tied to the yacht's offshore vocation. The steel hull and the powerful sloop rig confirm her capabilities on long offshore passages.

The original interiors had been designed to make the most of the available volumes and natural light, thanks to the large windows of the deck saloon and the portholes in the hull. After more than twenty years of use, the essential lines and neutral tones of the interiors had lost some of their brightness.
Nauta's work covered almost every space on board, from the navigation station to the owner's cabin, introducing contemporary details alongside the original features.
“The 4K refit project is the result of solid cooperation between the Owner, the crew, the brokerage team and Nauta, who worked side by side with shared commitment and strong determination to meet the Owner's expectations. The design process was guided by a careful and considered selection of proposals and interventions, developed on a particularly tight schedule to ensure the project's efficiency and full success,” said Martino Majno, co-Director of Nauta.

“The main challenge was to harmonise the existing elements with the new design solutions, combining renewed materials, refined details and high-level furnishings and fittings to create a contemporary atmosphere. Finishes in soft tones and custom craftsmanship sit alongside a fresh and welcoming colour palette, giving rise to an unexpected environment that fully brings out the yacht's potential. The generous distribution of the spaces, enhanced by natural light and sophisticated design solutions, offers guests a renewed and intimate on-board experience,” added Guido Valtorta, co-Director of Nauta.

4K is for sale through Will Bishop of Superyacht Partners, with an asking price of 8,500,000 euros. She is currently located in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
