Azimut Yachts with Verve 40 at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 2016

The Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 2016 begins today and  this morning the world top presented officially the new Verve 40, the first weekender by Azimut Yachts. More sophisticated than a walkaround, more stylish than a center console, more spacious than a day cruiser

Azimut Yachts gears up to revolutionise the walkaround segment with the new Verve 40, the shipyard’s latest model, which combines all the typical features of the traditional American walkaround and day cruiser, but adds to them the peerless elegance and sophistication of Italian style.

More sophisticated than a walkaround, more stylish than a center console, more spacious than a day cruiser: the Azimut Verve 40, which made its debut at the Newport International Boat Show 2016 before going on to appear a few weeks later at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, marks the entry of Azimut Yachts into the typically American sport walkaround segment.

Verve 40 stands out from the crowd for the elegance of its styling and its spaciousness, featuring an extensive cabin area that gives it every right to call itself a weekender.

Plenty of space for socialising on the main deck

On the Main Deck, the cockpit is designed to provide the friendliest of atmospheres: the L-shaped sofa arrangement can be turned into a C-configuration by moving the rear-facing sofa back on Harken sliders to join the others, while the electrically operated foldaway dining table means that the entire area can be transformed into a roomy sunbed in the stern.

Fitted with a mobile bar, a large fridge, an icemaker, a double barbeque and an optional wine cooler, this area provides the owner and their guests with everything they need for some unfettered fun and relaxation.

Forward, in the bow area, the classic sunbed with reclining backrests is joined by facing sofas with masses of underseat storage space. 

Finally, a section of the gunwale at the stern end of the yacht’s port side swings open outwards to create a convenient side platform with teak finishing and an incorporated swim ladder.

A sporty steering console

The steering console stands out for its modern styling inspired by automotive design; the instrumentation is all digital, with no analogue displays. The pilot seats are extremely comfortable and supportive, delivering unparalleled ergonomics and safety even at high speed. A skylight incorporated in the hardtop can be opened for ventilation during navigation and the console is protected by glass splash guards on either side. Finally, an electrically operated bimini top by Shureshade is fitted inside the hardtop and extends to provide shade across the entire cockpit area. 

Below deck is where the real innovation on Azimut Verve 40 can be found

The Lower Deck is one of the most interesting areas of this new model. The shipyard has successfully increased the free space available on board and as a result the Verve 40 is to all intents and purposes a weekender designed to offer relaxing accommodation in total comfort. 

On board we have a central dinette with a dining area and galley, a spacious and fully independent cabin in the bow and a head compartment. If necessary, the dinette area can be converted to provide an additional bed. The interior decoration is especially sophisticated, reflecting the flair for style that is a distinctive feature of every product in the Azimut range. 

Technology and the engine room

The sheer breadth of the range (from 10 to 100 m) and proprietary CFD software provide Azimut’s R&D team with a database of correlations between virtual and tank tested models that is unmatched in the industry. After defining the shape of the hull, the structures are developed using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). This process is particularly complex when the structures are made from composite materials and it is performed by R&D specialists and consultants with experience working on designs for offshore racing hulls. This ensures maximum strength in points where stress is highest and doesn’t weigh the yacht down pointlessly.

The Verve 40 is propelled by three 350 hp Mercury Verado engines to a maximum speed of 44 knots and a cruising speed of 37 knots. The manoeuvring joystick and skyhook system are available as optionals.
