The Red Bull Italy SailGP Team is ready for the final act of season 5
The SailGP global championship returns to the United Arab Emirates for the final and decisive showdown of Season 5: the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Grand Final, presented by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. A venue
that is no stranger to the world’s fastest sail racing league: Abu Dhabi has already hosted several Grand Prix events and is set to welcome the championship again next year for Season 6, confirming its status as one of the most iconic and spectacular stages on the circuit.
For the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team, this weekend carries special significance. The squad arrives in the UAE following a key expansion of its roster, undertaken to strengthen the team and build momentum ahead of the next season. Abu Dhabi will be the first opportunity to test this renewed configuration, led by SailGP champion Phil Robertson on the helm and Olympic sailor Jana Germani in the Strategist role.
The Italian line-up confirms Australian champion Kyle Langford as wing trimmer, Andrea Tesei as flight controller, Enrico Voltolini covering the grinder 2 position, with Brad Farrand taking on the position of grinder 1.
A setup designed to maximize adaptability and performance in the technical and unpredictable conditions typical of the Emirates.
The Grand Final represents a major opportunity for the Italian team: a world-class test on one of the most scenic arenas in the entire circuit, in a city that has long hosted major global sporting championships, from MotoGP to Formula 1. The twelve F50s will once again race in front of fully sold-out grandstands, guaranteeing a weekend of high-intensity action.
Weather forecasts suggest high temperatures and light winds, with the likelihood of alternating 27.5 m and 24m wing configurations, paired with light-air foils and rudders.
Precision, agility and sharp tactical reading will be key.
Jimmy Spithill, CEO of the Red Bull Italy SailGP team: “Our first season together has flown by, and Abu Dhabi offers a fantastic opportunity to integrate our new team members into the race crew and deepen our learning ahead of the first event in Season 6.”
The stunning setting of Abu Dhabi is ready to welcome the twelve F50s for a decisive and spectacular weekend of racing, broadcast in Italy on Sky Sport and the SailGP YouTube channel.
The first race will take place on Saturday, 29 November at 14:00 local time (11:00 CET).
