Supertender builder TYKUN made waves at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show when its debut model, the TYKUN X, demonstrated impressive agility and performance in the waters off Port Hercule. Now, the brand – which is a division of MED Group – has unveiled details of its new flagship, currently under construction in Italy: the TYKUN XII.

The 12.7-metre TYKUN XII represents everything that has made the TYKUN X an instant success – an all-aluminium hull, flexible layouts, exceptional attention to detail, an extensive range of customisation options, and striking performance derived from MED Group’s hull, developed for civil enforcement units, navies, and special forces. The TYKUN XII also delivers on style, with design and layouts by superyacht designer Tommaso Spadolini and renowned opinion maker Benedetta Iovane, aka The Luxury Yacht Lady and Head of Commercial & Brand.

“The TYKUN XII not only represents our new flagship, but fully embodies our DNA,” says Iovane. “It brings together military-grade rigour and a lifestyle that delivers both adrenaline and genuine comfort. Thanks to its technically derived hull, exceeding 50 knots, it ensures outstanding seakeeping. The TYKUN XII is equally suited as a superyacht chase boat or as a high-end dayboat and comfortable weekender. Careful material selection and meticulous attention to every construction detail result in a truly distinctive on-board experience.”

Seasoned design

The TYKUN XII will be offered in two core versions, Open and Closed. The Open version features a similar layout to the X, with a central helm area and bar counter under the hardtop, and an adaptable seating/sunpad arrangement aft. The Closed version offers additional flexibility for weekending, shoulder season cruising or operations in hot or cold climates, with the helm and bar area under the hardtop offering different layout options including a bench settee and dinette.

Alternative layouts are offered for the rest of the deck areas, including a ‘high bow’ version with an extensive sunpad forward and a ‘low bow’ variant featuring a generous forward cockpit with extensive seating and a table. Aft, the Open version offers multiple configurations, such as a double-sofa cockpit with twin tables and aft sunpad, or an oversized sunpad with a more intimate seating and dining area. The aft drop-down bulwarks have been extended all the way to the stern, creating a spacious cockpit terrace directly on the sea when at anchor.

The bar unit in the helm area can be fitted with an optional ice maker and cooktop in addition to a 130-litre fridge. Air conditioning ensures maximum comfort in both hot and cold climates.

Below decks, the main cabin – which includes a separate head with shower – benefits from the additional length and is offered in three initial versions adapted to the chosen Open or Closed deck configuration. Options include a French bed or V-berth, or a lower

saloon layout with V-shaped sofa and table that can be lowered to form a berth. Particular attention has been paid to providing ample storage space for weekend cruising, as well as generous locker space on deck for essentials and watersports equipment.

As with all Tykuns, the layout configurations are offered in tandem with the opportunity to customise every aspect – including not just finishes, colourways and materials, but also more wholesale layout changes to tailor the XII exactly to a client’s wishes.

Power play

Underpinning the XII is an ultra-high-performance aluminium hull derived from MED Group’s specialised military vessels, giving owners the confidence of a design that has proven itself in the most demanding of applications. The hull form includes a stepped design for high-speed running, a hybrid fender, and a raised bow profile to ensure safe and comfortable navigation at speed even when the seas start to build.

Powering the TYKUN XII are twin outboards ranging from 400 hp to 600 hp, with the latter delivering speeds of over 50 knots. Twin fuel tanks can be specified up to 600 litres each, alongside the option for an extended water tank capacity of 300 litres, making the XII ideal for missions away from the mothership.

“The TYKUN XII takes the same mindset as the TYKUN X and applies it to a vessel that not only offers proven high performance, manoeuvrability, reliability and safety, but also enables longer stays on board, greater range, and extended cruising seasons, particularly in the Closed version,” says Marco Galimberti, CEO of MED Group. “In addition, we can accommodate extensive customisation requests, including potentially to the hull, as building in aluminium means we are not confined to a mould. However, with a large number of layout options and a comprehensive equipment specification included as standard, the TYKUN XII is also offered as a turnkey solution for owners who want a simplified build process.”

The first TYKUN XII is currently in build at the brand’s shipyard in Italy, and will be an Open version with the extensive forward seating area. The boat will debut at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show in September, where she will also serve as a tender for clients of Monaco-based brokerage house Royal Yacht International (https://www.royalyachtinternational.com) who have entered into a partnership with Tykun to serve as distributor of the XII worldwide.

“The TYKUN XII represents the perfect evolution of the range – more volume, greater comfort, and increased autonomy compared to the TYKUN X, without losing its racing DNA and military-grade reliability,” Galimberti concludes. “We can’t wait to demonstrate her extraordinary capabilities and versatility during the Monaco show, where she will undoubtedly prove a star, just like her sibling did in 2025.”

Positioned between a high-performance chase boat and a refined luxury yacht tender, the TYKUN XII defines its category as a “serious tender”, where elegance, safety and power come together in perfect balance.
