Tecnomarine Yachts: the relaunch from Pisa with the new TM33 and TM40
There is a canal in Pisa where, for half a century, one of the most recognisable names in Italian aluminium yacht building forged its identity. Today, Tecnomarine returns to build yachts in that very same district.
The shipyard, founded in Viareggio in 1972 by Moreno Maestrelli and the historic Picchiotti family of yacht builders, with the technical collaboration of one of the leading yacht designers of the era, Paolo Caliari, the shipyard launched more than 300 boats over the years, including models that became icons of the industry such as the C-42, the Cobra series and the 36-metre flagship T-118. Today, the company begins a new chapter under new ownership and management, implementing an industrial plan focused on the large aluminium yacht segment.
Leading the project is entrepreneur Massimiliano Zilioli, who acquired the Tecnomarine brand and is relaunching its operations at the Navicelli Canal facility: 3,500 square metres of covered production space and 3,000 square metres of outdoor areas dedicated to the construction of custom yachts, with a production model designed entirely around the requirements of each individual owner.
One Material, One Construction Philosophy
Tecnomarine’s new industrial strategy is based on a clear decision: aluminium as the sole construction material for displacement and semi-displacement yachts ranging from 25 to 50 metres. This choice reflects specific requirements for strength, sustainability and structural flexibility, with the aim of delivering highly seaworthy and extensively customised yachts.
It represents a genuine return to the shipyard’s origins, while embracing a contemporary engineering approach. The relaunch is intended to preserve Tecnomarine’s historic know-how and apply it to today’s construction standards, while strengthening production capabilities in Tuscany, a region internationally recognised for excellence in metal shipbuilding and yacht outfitting.

Our objective is not simply to bring a historic brand back to the water, but to position it among the leaders in aluminium yacht construction by offering yachts that deliver safety, efficiency and a disciplined design language.”
The Range: Five Models, Two Flagships
Tecnomarine’s current portfolio consists of five aluminium models—TM33, TM40, TM41, TM45 and TM90—but the company’s relaunch is currently centred on two projects: the TM33 and the TM40, both developed in close collaboration with Michele Dragoni’s design studio, Dragoni Designlab.
The Tecnomarine TM33 (33 metres) reinterprets the concept of the aluminium fast cruiser. Dragoni Designlab focused on achieving the right balance between taut exterior lines and an interior layout that maximises onboard liveability, creating generous outdoor living spaces while maintaining a sporty, aerodynamic profile.
The Tecnomarine TM40 (40 metres) highlights the long-range flexibility offered by aluminium construction. Its layout is distinguished by the visual continuity between interior and exterior spaces, achieved through extensive mirrored glazing and an aft area conceived as an open terrace overlooking the sea, designed to maximise the connection with the water.
The Monaco Appointment
Tecnomarine’s relaunch programme, the details of its new industrial organisation at Pisa Navicelli and the complete model range—with particular focus on the development of the TM33 and TM40—will be officially presented to industry professionals, brokers and the international yachting press at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show.
