Southern Wind is pleased to announce that SW96#02 Seatius has won the Best Interior Design Sailing Yachts award at the prestigious 2019 Boat International Design and Innovation Awards.

These prizes are amongst the most prestigious in the industry and acknowledge naval architecture, styling and design aspects that represent innovation and evolving taste amid the changing demands of owners.

An excerpt from the judge’s motivations in awarding Seatius the Best Interior Design Award follows: “…The elegant, lightweight interior gives nothing away in terms of luxury as elegant fabrics and suede highlight a predominantly two-tone, light and dark colour scheme with interior joinery of socially responsible, reconstituted wood veneer. Matching the exterior, the lines of the interior are crisp and clean but hardly minimalist as stepped surfaces and reveals add depth and interest. Using the darker joinery as an accent for overhead ventilation panels and updated crown moulding, which also hides ambient lighting, visually lengthens the rooms. The open sightlines from the combination saloon/dining area two steps down into the cosy TV lounge make the boat feel much larger than its 31 metres, as does the fact there are just three very spacious en suite cabins...”

The owner’s brief was for a yacht that picked up Southern Wind’s traditional design while incorporating elements of his bold personal style, giving her a strong personality.

Seatius interiors were drawn by long-time Southern Wind collaborators Nauta Design with the owner’s interior designer Jeroen Machielsen from Studio Hermanides. This team brought a unique combination of experience and verve to the project and the success of the outcome has been widely appreciated by all.

The yacht has hull lines, appendages and sail plan by Farr Yacht Design and result from multiple performance studies conducted in this size range.
Southern Wind’s Commercial Director Andrea Micheli comments: “The recognition of Seatius at this prestigious awards ceremony represents both the heritage that our founder Willy Persico left us and the new horizons that lie ahead of the shipyard now. We are all very pleased to see that both owners and industry professionals appreciate our hard work and are looking forward to many successful projects to come. The construction of SW96 hull number three is already well underway and soon she will join her two sisterships on the water and hopefully on a podium.”

Seatius and her owners are currently cruising in the Caribbean, so keep an eye out for the winner.
