Pitting crews against each other is the fairest form of sailing competition. One-design racing, defined by clear rules, is synonymous with pure sport in yachting competitions. Boats are the same and it is all about strategy, tactics, crew work, and sailing technique. One-design racing is for sailors who really like competition and still enjoy sailing. The Swan One-Design philosophy, which includes the ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 42 and Swan 45 Classes, takes this concept further: the boats are truly dual-purpose and the racing calendar is rich and includes a world ranking for each class. The regattas are always attractive social events hosted by prestigious yacht clubs, the home to both the sailors and the competition organizers and, as such, the cornerstone of the sport, and one of the cornerstones of the philosophy.

The great success of the first edition of The Nations Trophy, where 28 Swan One Design, ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 42 and Swan 45, raced to win the ambitious Trophy, has confirmed the new era of the Nautor’s Swan racing soul.

2018 sees the launch of The Nations Trophy Mediterranean League. Opening with the inaugural Monaco Swan One Design, organized with the Yacht Club de Monaco, this first event will offer a fantastic 4-day programme of high-end racing and social occasions.

The Mediterranean League will continue with some classic Med rendezvous: SailRacing Palmavela, organized in early May by the RCNP in Palma de Mallorca; the Giraglia Rolex Cup, organized in mid-June by the YCI and featuring dedicated windward-leeward races off Saint-Tropez along with a special prize for the Offshore race; and closing in Palma de Mallorca at the beginning of August with the legendary Copa del Rey also organized by RCNP.

The prize giving for TNT Mediterranean League will be in Porto Cervo during the 20th edition of the Rolex Swan Cup scheduled for 9th - 16th September 2018.
In parallel, a The Nations Trophy US League will be organized in Caribbean and US waters. Starting in the Caribbean with St. Thomas International Regatta at the end of March, followed by Les Voiles de St. Barts in mid-April, racing moves to Newport RI for the NYYC Annual Regatta in mid-June and closes with the NYYC Race Week in mid-July.

We are proud to announce that the ClubSwan 50 has won the SAIL's 2018 Best Boats Award. The new ClubSwan 50 is the result of an impressive development program that saw three different prototype boats built and sailed extensively before the final production design was set in stone. The goal was a strict one-design, owner-driver racing class that would promote and sustain high-end international Corinthian sailing competition.

Designed by the renowned Juan Kouyoumdjian, the ClubSwan 50 boasts pre-preg carbon construction, a sexy low-freeboard hull with a dramatic reverse destroyer bow, an integral bowsprit, reverse sheer, distinctive chines and concave aft sections with lots of topside flare. The judges were also impressed with the boat’s interior, which is surprisingly open and inviting, thanks to the fact the carbon mast is deck-stepped and supported underneath by a massive carbon beam. The highly attractive modern furniture is not only all carbon-skinned foam finished with teak and leather, but modular to allow for easy conversions from cruising to racing mode. The owner’s stateroom forward, for example, becomes a commodious sail locker, while the stylish settees become over-and-under racing berths.

Not surprisingly, the deck layout is equally well considered, with the efficiencies of performance sailing neatly balanced against the needs of short-handed convenience. The end result is a genuine go-fast race boat that combines stunning looks with luxurious appointments.
