The ICE YACHTS boat-yard presents in the market the new ICE 60, a fast cruise dedicates to passionate and competent owners that seek enjoyment and strong emotions at the helm. Built with highly innovative materials and advanced construction techniques the ICE 60 is in a league of it’s own in all that regards performance, comfort on board and ability to take on even the toughest conditions at sea. Excellent for demanding cruises and regattas.

The design is inspired by the boats smaller sibling, the ICE 33 a killer regatta boat, from which it takes the “scimitar-like” design of the bow and “smiling” carving shape of the stern.

The project has been realized by Felci Yacht Design and the production is done in the historic site of Yacht 2000, construction yard that has had over thirty years of experience and has completed more than 80 prestigious maxi-yachts.

The hydrodynamics are nothing less than impressive. The water lines allow the ICE 60 to glide at very high speeds due to its max beam of 5.20 m and the carefully studied appendages also grant the yacht great upwind capabilities: the ICE 60 shows no problem in taking on wind coming from extremely narrow angles.

To guarantee this level of performance are the advanced technologies used in the construction process and the elevated skill of the artisans which have great experience and expertise in their field.

TECHNICAL DATA TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS

The boat weighs 18 tons, 25% less than the average boat in the same category; has almost 220 m2 of sail surface when going downwind and great stability thanks to the shape and the weigh/keel ratio.

Hull and deck of the boat are laminated with a sandwich infusion technique using a glass-carbon fiber composite material with an epoxy resin and PVC foam core with different density and thickness which has been chosen chosen as it allows to sustain several strains.

The localized reinforcements are made with unidirectional and biaxial carbon fiber beams. The structures (bulkheads and floors) are either longitudinal or traverse and are made of glass-carbon fiber with PVC foam cores at various densities all entirely vacuum sandwich laminated in epoxy. The chainplates of shrouds, forestay and backstay are composite and steel made.

INTERIOR

Offered in two versions, the interiors are our interpretation of how the enjoyment of living on board and the italian style can be combined making it pleasurable to spend a long time off shore. All the cabins are comfortable and refined, with the right ventilation and complete with large lockers to stow personal belongings. All this executed in a clean and modern style with extensive use of solid wood. The design of the furniture and the orientation of the wood veneer provide a luxurious and refined interior but without loosing the typical offshore elements.

DECK

The deck takes from the recent projects of Felci Yacht Design, combining simplicity and style with technology and efficiency. The steering wheel is in a forward position for an optimal view and the sails and direct control over the mainsheet even when the boat is lean. The large area at stern is clear of equipment and can be fitted with cushions for extra comfort.

The transom can be opened to offer a comfortable support for sea bathing and provides access to a large garage where it is possible to stow a 10,82 ft tender without deflating it.

The cockpit is purposely oversize and it is characterized by large benches and backrests plus the possibility of having a dining table.

The wide but discrete windows of the coachroof along with the large portholes provide unrivaled interior lighting giving it a pleasant brightness.

The low freeboards make the hull elegant and slender, the large windows on the sides, along with those coachroof provide a remarkable brightness to the interior, with point of view at different levels.

The boat deck is completely clean and it is equipped with electric roller-furler jib, fitted below the deck and fixed bowsprit with anchor and gennaker tack.

Great performances are guaranteed by the advanced technologies used in construction and the quality of the craftsmanship. These are the qualities that have allowed the famous FELCI 61, from which the ICE 60 derives directly, to win the most important offshore races such as: ARC Atlantic Rally, Giraglia, L’Antigua, Sailing Week, 500x 2 and many others however the ICE 60 also to offers wonderful and relaxing family cruisers at the same time. Years of experience in advanced composites and offshore sailing led us to select the best materials and the most refined construction techniques. Ice Yachts are entirely manufactured in our facilities in order to ensure the highest quality and everything, from the laying of the carbon skin to tightening the last bolt, is carefully checked by our experts.

Hull and deck of the boat are laminated with a sandwich infusion technique using a glass-carbon fiber composite material with an epoxy resin and PVC foam core with different density and thickness. The use of 3-step infusion process (infusion on the outer skin, vacuum bonded core, infusion on the inner skin) has been chosen because it allows to obtain an optimal control of the laminate.

CONSTRUCTION: TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS

Hull and deck are laminated with infusion technique, in sandwich of composite materials using glass-carbon fibers with epoxy resin and PVC foam core with different density and thickness.

The use of 3-step infusion process (infusion on the outer skin, vacuum bonded core, infusion on the inner skin) was chosen because it allows to obtain an optimal control of the laminate with a maximum percentage of the final resin equal to 35-40%; therefore, necessary to obtain minimum weight and maximum mechanical properties of the laminate.

The localized reinforcements are made with unidirectional and biaxial carbon fibers.

The structures either longitudinal or transverse (bulkheads and floors) are entirely vacuum laminated in epoxy sandwich using glass-carbon fibers and PVC foam cores at various densities.

The chainplates of shrouds, forestay and backstay are composite and steel made.
