After two days, the second event of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2022 organized in Trieste, Italy by the Società Triestina Sport del Mare, finds itself with a total of seven valid races - four the ones completed today - and a ranking particularly balanced.

Hungarian Seven Five Nine (today 1-10-2-8) by Akos Csolto, the early leader of the event thanks to a bombastic start, is now joined by the Germans of White Room (2-3-6-1). Michael Tarabochia's crew with Luis Tarabochia at the helm, who at the end of Day One was on the second position five points behind the leader, managed as best as possible the shifts of the wind, which today blew lightly from Mistral, then more vigorously from South-Westerly.

Tied on sixteen points, the Corinthian leaders have a margin of nine points over Gilles (3–5-1-2) of Marcello Caldonazzo Arvedi who, helmed by Pietro D'Alì, a sailor who boasts participation in the Olympics, America's Cup and Ocean Race, and brought between the shifts by the calls of the Olympian Andrea Trani, turns out to be the best of the non-Corinthians (teams made up of professionals).

With only two races to complete yet, and with the gap already counted, the crew of the Yacht Club Italiano, organizer of the Melges 24 Europeans planned in the upcoming October, looks with relative tranquillity to the ten points of margin that separate them from Gill Race Team (4-7-4-7) of Miles Quinton (GBR), already winner of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series a few seasons ago.

Quinton's crew with Geoff Carveth at the helm managed to overtake the reigning champions of Melgina (14-1-16-4) who, led by Paolo Brescia and by the tactician Simon Sivitz, alternated brilliant races with others closed in double figures.

The second event of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series will end on Sunday with two final races scheduled - the preparatory signal is set at 10 - followed by the award ceremony, scheduled at the headquarters of the Società Triestina Sport del Mare.
