The Sessa Marine Key Largo 25 has won the Design Innovation Award in the category for sailing, motor and inflatable craft up to 10 metres. The ceremony took place on the evening of 2 October on the terrace of the Blue Pavilion at the 66th Genoa International Boat Show, one day after the model's official presentation at the entrance to the show.

The jury gave the following reasons for the award: "A perfect combination of dynamic, contemporary design and innovation in use, integrating modular features typical of much larger boats."

"For us, this award means more than the KL25 itself. We have started a specific project: to renew the Key Largo line step by step and, in parallel, to lay the foundations of the future Sessa yacht range. We want to build a coherent and recognisable range, with a contemporary language, innovation and a strong product identity. The KL25 is the first concrete result of this process, and the jury's recognition confirms that we are going in the right direction," said Stefano Notarantonio, President of Sessa Marine.

The KL25 is therefore the first visible step in a renewal programme that Sessa Marine plans to extend gradually across its range, starting with the Key Largo line while developing the future yacht range at the same time.

The boat was developed jointly by the Sessa Marine technical department and Daniele Mazzon's Studio M. Their work focused on the evolution of the Key Largo identity, on proportions, on the use of space and on modularity.

"We wanted to develop the Key Largo identity without losing its character. The award recognises precisely the work done to integrate design, functionality and innovation in use," said Mazzon.

The Key Largo line dates back to the 1990s, and more than 8,000 units have been built and sold worldwide since then. Sessa Marine's aim is to build on this identity by gradually introducing solutions, perceived quality and standards found on larger boats.

On the KL25 this translates into a different layout of the interior and exterior spaces and into solutions intended to improve liveability and versatility. One of the distinctive elements is the side opening, which according to the yard significantly increases the usable space on board and helps bring to a boat of this size features normally associated with larger yachts.

Since the presentation at the Genoa boat show, five units of the new Key Largo 25 have already been sold. The yard describes the model with the line "Standard da yacht. Spirito Key Largo." (Yacht standards. Key Largo spirit.)

Promoted since 2020 by Confindustria Nautica and the Genoa International Boat Show, the Design Innovation Award is now in its seventh edition, with more than 100 entries and awards in 11 categories.
