Icona 70 has won the Best Exterior Design category at the 25th edition of the World Yachts Trophies, presented during an evening organised by Yachts France magazine. The award came a few days after the boat's world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

The Icona 70 is the first model from ICONA inspired by Mangusta, a brand created by EFFEBI NEW PROJECT, whose co-founders and partners are the Balducci family and Stefano Arlunno. According to the company, the brand takes its cue from Mangusta to meet the expectations of a new generation of owners in the under-24-metre segment. The boat is built to Overmarine Group standards.

Igor Lobanov, who developed the design language of the Mangusta REV range, handled the exterior, interior, ergonomics and helm station as a single integrated project. The hull has continuous surfaces, and the dark-glazed superstructure sits beneath a tapered hardtop. The engine room air intake is 3D printed with a honeycomb structure, a detail the company links to the automotive world, while the mooring gear and anchor housing are concealed.

Exterior and interior colour combinations follow the customisation culture of the car industry and are intended to reflect each owner's character within the original design.

At the stern, side wings open out to take the beam to more than 9 metres and create a 40-square-metre platform on the water. The company says these dimensions are normally associated with much larger yachts.

The Icona 70 will next be on display at the Monaco Yacht Show from 23 to 26 September, at Appontement Jules Soccal S01, and at the Genoa International Boat Show from 1 to 6 October, at Banchina H.
