America’s Cup: Luna Rossa Takes Delivery of Its Bagnoli Base Site
The formal handover of the site allocated to the Italian team clears the way for work to begin on its operational base ahead of the 2027 campaign
This morning, 30 July, the formal handover took place of the site allocated to Luna Rossa for the construction of its operational base in Bagnoli ahead of the 38th America’s Cup, to be held in Naples in 2027.
The handover, completed at the Deme-Invitalia offices in Bagnoli, marks a significant operational milestone for Luna Rossa, which will contest its seventh challenge for the oldest trophy in international sport. Giulio Giovanella, the team’s Logistics Director, attended the signing alongside representatives of ACE and Invitalia.
Following the meeting, Giovanella carried out an inspection of the site allocated to Luna Rossa, reviewing its current condition and discussing the operational requirements for the next stages of the project. Construction of the team base is scheduled to begin in September.
“The official allocation of the site for our base in Bagnoli is a very important step, as it opens a new phase in our campaign towards the 38th America’s Cup,” said Giulio Giovanella. “We can now begin working in practical terms on our new home, with construction scheduled to start in September. We are extremely pleased and looking forward to getting underway. The development of the team bases will form part of the regeneration of an area that is set to undergo a profound transformation and become a new landmark for the city.”
The construction of the team bases forms part of the wider regeneration programme for Bagnoli, which will host a central element of the activities surrounding the next edition of the America’s Cup.
