Lusben completes refit of M/Y Kos: structural, systems and interior design work on the 37-metre Benetti Classic
Lusben has completed the refit of M/Y Kos, a 37-metre yacht from the Benetti Classic 120 series launched in 2009. The project, started in August 2025 following the vessel's acquisition by a new owner, was completed in approximately six months at Lusben's Viareggio facility. The scope covered structures, systems, onboard equipment, exterior areas and interiors.
The shared decision with the owner was to preserve the yacht's general layout while selectively improving functionality, comfort and spatial perception. On the main deck, Lusben coordinated structural work including the installation of a new full-height glazed panel in the saloon and the reconfiguration of the stairway area between main deck and upper deck, with the necessary engineering checks to ensure integration with the original architecture.
The interior project, developed by designer Laura Rossi, introduced a transparent balustrade at the stairway to allow natural light between decks, and a backlit bar unit as an architectural feature in the saloon. In the corridors, some opaque surfaces were replaced with frosted glass panels. New fabrics and materials were introduced in the cabins. In the galley, the focus was on layout optimisation and surface upgrades.

"The Lusben site in Viareggio is a reference point for the management of complex refits on yachts and superyachts, thanks to the combination of technical expertise, production capacity and long-established experience," said Paolo Simoncini, Site Director of Lusben Viareggio. "KOS is a concrete example: a project that required the coordination of structural, systems and interior refit work, developed through an integrated approach that allows us to support owners and professionals at every stage, ensuring build quality, reliability and design continuity."
"In our seventieth anniversary year, projects like KOS confirm the evolution of refit into a process of enhancing a vessel's value," said Ferdinando Pilli, General Manager of Lusben. "Today, technical expertise, infrastructure and design capability must work together to meet the expectations of owners increasingly focused on quality, reliability and the preservation of value over time."
"KOS does not deny what it was, nor does it try to become something different," added Laura Rossi. "The project was born from the desire to lighten, simplify and enhance the yacht's original identity, creating spaces that are more fluid, luminous and natural to live in every day. KOS remains deeply a Benetti Classic, but today it tells a new story of comfort and life on board. And perhaps that is the greatest luxury of all: inhabiting a space with ease."
On the technical side, work covered main engines, generators and the principal onboard systems: air conditioning, refrigeration, hydraulic circuits, water treatment and monitoring. Lighting was fully converted to LED. The bridge and onboard electronics were updated. Teak decks were restored, and the sun deck was reconfigured with the removal of the existing jacuzzi. The full repaint of hull and superstructure was carried out in a controlled environment, achieving gloss levels close to 98, comparable to new-build standards. New red colour accents define the updated visual identity.
