The IBC Shipyard, based in La Romana in the Dominican Republic, marked its 25th anniversary with a gathering that brought together more than 200 employees and their families on the terrace of the Hilton Garden Inn La Romana.

The event offered an opportunity to review the main stages of the company’s development and its contribution to the growth of the nautical sector in the country and across the Caribbean region.

IBC Shipyard was founded in 2001, at a time when the local nautical market was still largely undeveloped. The original objective was to create specialized infrastructure, develop local technical skills and generate sustainable economic opportunities for the region.

During the evening Alice Caslini, Marketing Director and Partner of IB Nautica Group, highlighted the human dimension behind the company’s growth: “We are not only celebrating 25 years of a company, but also 25 years of people, sacrifices and goals built together.”

In his remarks Mauro Caslini, President of IBC Shipyard, recalled the main challenges faced over the years, including economic cycles, market fluctuations and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Caslini, the company’s progress has been made possible by perseverance, teamwork and a long-term vision.

During the event, attention was also drawn to the economic importance of the nautical sector in the Dominican Republic, which generates around 30,000 direct jobs and benefits more than 120,000 people indirectly.

The celebration was also attended by the Italian Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Stefano Queirolo Palmas, who acknowledged the role played by the Italian community in the country’s entrepreneurial development and congratulated the Caslini family on the results achieved in the first twenty-five years of activity.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the recognition of employees with more than 15 years of service, reflecting the continuity and sense of belonging developed within the organization.

From a technical perspective, architect Gianfranco Fini described the structural evolution of the marina and shipyard, noting how the original planning enabled an orderly expansion of infrastructure in line with international standards, while also highlighting the need to further increase capacity in response to growing regional demand.

Looking at the company’s market positioning, Giacomo Moriconi, General Manager of IBC Shipyard, identified perseverance, passion and strategic vision as the factors that enabled the shipyard to consolidate its operations. Federico Caslini, Sales Director and Partner of IB Nautica Group, emphasized the shipyard’s role within the regional market, noting that the facility represents the largest shipyard in the Caribbean, with ambitions to compete at an international level.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the company also announced the launch of an internal training programme, with bi-monthly sessions scheduled through December 2026, aimed at supporting the professional and personal development of the team.

After 25 years of activity, IBC Shipyard today positions itself as a technical reference point for the nautical sector in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean, with the objective of continuing its growth path through investment, skills development and the strengthening of its infrastructure.
