This morning, at Lusben’s shipyard in Livorno, the relaunch ceremony of S/Y Belle Brise took place. The 48-metre sailing yacht, built by Perini Navi in 1993, has undergone a major and extensive rebuild carried out by Lusben in collaboration with Seamotion, which supported the Owner in selecting Lusben for this ambitious project.

A central role in the works was played by Lusben’s keel pit, inaugurated at the yard in 2024 to enable full keel refit operations on sailing yachts. In order to carry out the works and complete the programme, the intervention was planned down to the smallest detail, ensuring optimal operating conditions, maximum safety and compliance with the scheduled timeframe.

The relaunch of Belle Brise is also highly symbolic for Lusben, which this year celebrates 70 years of activity, from 1956 to 2026. It is a milestone built on the yard’s ability to evolve over time and take on increasingly complex projects while remaining rooted in the great tradition of Italian yachting. The return to the water of S/Y Belle Brise fully reflects this philosophy: preserving heritage value while bringing it up to contemporary standards.

Previously known as Corelia, S/Y Belle Brise is one of the earliest yachts in the celebrated 48-metre Perini Navi series. At the time of her original build, she already stood out for innovative design solutions, including a redesigned stern with a comfortable livable lazarette and a side shell door providing direct access to the sea. Now, more than thirty years after her first launch, this sailing yacht returns to service following an intervention that has preserved her original identity while integrating the latest technological and functional upgrades.

The comprehensive rebuild, strongly desired by the Owner, was aimed at obtaining Restricted Commercial Notation under the Maltese flag and paving the way for future charter operations.

“Today’s ceremony is a moment of great pride for our entire team. Working on a sailing icon such as Belle Brise means taking on an important responsibility: respecting her soul, enhancing her history and, at the same time, raising her technical and operational standards. This project fully embodies our vision of refit and rebuild: a balance between engineering expertise, yachting culture and craftsmanship,” commented Ferdinando Pilli, General Manager of Lusben.

The intervention involved all the yacht’s functional areas, with an extremely rigorous approach in terms of quality, safety and performance. From the installation of new MAN main engines with UREA tank and new Caterpillar generators, to the complete renewal of onboard systems, instrumentation and technical equipment, as well as structural works and the enhancement of the yacht’s classic interiors, every phase was handled with meticulous care. Many components were selected in line with the original Maker List, reflecting the intention to preserve the yacht’s Perini Navi authenticity.

The project was led by Lusben’s Livorno team, which coordinated this complex programme under the supervision of ABS class and the flag authorities, working in close synergy with Seamotion as Owner’s representative and project manager, and with the yacht’s crew.

“Belle Brise carries in her DNA the ‘blue blood’ of Perini Navi, the same heritage that lives on in the experience, design culture and hands of many of the craftsmen who took part in her rebirth. A unique body of expertise that made it possible to restore the full original identity of this historic 48-metre yacht,” said Susanna Corsagni, Founder of Seamotion.

Today, S/Y Belle Brise returns to sea with the timeless elegance for which she has long been known, complemented by renewed technical efficiency and versatility tailored to the contemporary market. After decades spent sailing among the islands and waters of the Aegean, she is now ready to write a new chapter in her history.
