The latest METS was an opportunity to speak with one of the leading companies in the Italian marine accessories sector, Besenzoni, present at the show with two stands: one within the Italian collective and another in the superyacht area.

PressMare discussed the end-of-year outlook with Fiorella Besenzoni, Marketing Manager.

PressMare – What impressions did you gather from meeting clients at METS?

Fiorella Besenzoni – Attendance was higher than expected; there was good movement. Of course, at METS you also see people already met in Genoa or Cannes, but the overall flow has been significant.

PM – Were they mostly long-standing clients or new contacts?

FB – About 90% were established clients who may not have had the chance to meet us at the autumn boat shows, but we also meet visitors from Australia or other distant countries. Amsterdam is easy to reach, and many Italians also take the opportunity to come here. METS is therefore an occasion where we really manage to meet everyone.

PM – How did 2025 go for Besenzoni?

FB – It has been a demanding year, with the market showing a physiological slowdown that affected the entire sector. Initial expectations suggested a more complex scenario, whereas the final results are proving to be better than forecast. We are therefore satisfied with how we are closing the year. The mid-size boat segment remains the most challenging, but we are confident that we can balance our production by strengthening our presence in the upper segment.

PM – Your positioning is already well established and the company is widely recognised. Has this helped you?

FB – Yes, the fact that we have been on the market for almost 60 years, and that we are known not only as a brand but also for reliability, seriousness and flexibility. This includes being able to adapt to production schedules and customer requirements, even modifying projects at the last minute to meet a yard’s needs.

PM – Looking ahead, do you already have an idea of what next year might look like? Any early signals?

FB – Overall, we expect a phase of stabilisation in the small and mid-size boat segment, in line with what we have observed in recent months. The product currently most in demand is the combined ladder-gangway, a solution that is particularly appreciated because it combines convenience and efficiency: it offers multiple functions in a single element, ensuring practicality and a greater sense of safety when boarding.

PM – From a geographical standpoint, which areas are the most interesting or challenging?

FB – The American market remains somewhat uncertain due to the economic and political situation — a question mark. Italy is certainly a strong driver, but we are also watching the Northern European market carefully. Not by chance, at METS we chose to continue exhibiting in the superyacht hall as well.

PM – Any particular initiatives or investments in new products? What’s in the pipeline?

FB – We will continue to prioritise sustainability, working to further improve the efficiency of our processes and to promote, across the supply chain, practices that reflect increasingly advanced quality standards. This is a shared commitment that also involves our partners, with the goal of offering products that combine excellence, responsibility and innovation.
