Bernard d’Alessandri appointed President of the Monaco Yachting Chamber
Fedem – the Federation of Monaco Enterprises – has announced the appointment of Bernard d’Alessandri as President of the Chambre Monégasque du Yachting, the official body representing companies in the nautical sector before the authorities of the Principality. The news was reported by La Presse, which provided the details.
D’Alessandri, a leading figure in the international yachting community, has served as Secretary General and General Manager of the Yacht Club de Monaco since 1990. Commenting on his appointment, he emphasised how the new position aligns with a professional path marked by long-standing experience in the sector: “My commitment has always been driven by my passion for the sea and yachting. With this new role, I hope my experience can be put to good use in a sector that is one of Monaco’s strengths and distinctive features. The Principality occupies a unique place in the world of yachting, a model of excellence, innovation and sustainability that we live and breathe every day at the Yacht Club de Monaco.”
Over the past decades, d’Alessandri has played an important role in shaping the strategy that has enabled Monaco to consolidate its international position in the superyacht segment. Among the initiatives developed under his leadership are the Monaco Classic Week – La Belle Classe, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge and the Superyacht Eco Association (SEA Index). He is also President of Cluster Yachting Monaco, launched in 2014 and bringing together more than one hundred companies in the sector, as well as head of the “Monaco, Capital of Yachting” committee within the Council for Economic Development and Strategic Planning.
Founded in 1945, Fedem represents the main professional associations of Monaco and acts as an interface between businesses and institutions. The Federation’s President, Philippe Ortelli, recalled the economic relevance of the yachting sector in the Principality, citing 2022 data from the Monaco Statistics Institute: “Leisure boating represents a strategic economic activity for the Principality, generating an annual turnover of nearly €600 million and providing 1,500 skilled jobs.” Ortelli also stressed the importance of strong representation of the sector within Fedem, particularly regarding sustainability and competitiveness.
D’Alessandri’s appointment strengthens the trajectory set by the “Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting” initiative, which aims to integrate innovation, sustainability and industrial governance into a unified strategic vision. The Chambre Monégasque du Yachting thus assumes a central role in coordinating companies, institutions and stakeholders in the leisure marine sector, with the goal of consolidating the Principality’s international position within the global yachting economy.
