The METSTRADE Show in Amsterdam, which in 2025 reaches its 37th edition, remains the benchmark event where the global marine equipment industry measures the state of the art of its technologies. It is an ideal context for a company like Maxwell Marine, which for more than fifty years has been a reference point worldwide in anchoring systems for yachts and superyachts. From 18 to 20 November, the New Zealand manufacturer returns to the RAI halls with a product offering that reflects its history of technological research, advanced engineering and the ability to respond to the needs of a sector that has seen significant growth in size, complexity and operational expectations.

Maxwell’s technical evolution is marked by innovations that have genuinely changed the way deck equipment is designed. In the early 1990s, the company set a turning point by introducing the first fully automatic rope/chain windlass, reshaping standards of safety, smooth operation and reliability in variable conditions. That milestone opened the way to continuous development, culminating in today’s RC and HRC series, now recognised globally as benchmarks in durability and construction quality.

In the latest models — such as the RC12 and HRCFF — research translates into solutions that combine advanced functionality with operational efficiency: automatic anchor management, “Free Fall” systems for rapid deployment, and mechanical engineering designed to deliver consistent performance even on yachts with demanding cruising programmes. These technologies stem from an increasingly rigorous engineering process involving CAD/CAM modelling, advanced prototyping, dedicated testing and a guiding design philosophy summarised in a single question every engineer must answer before final validation: “Would you put this product on your own boat?”

Design is an essential part of this approach. Maxwell’s equipment must integrate seamlessly with the clean lines of modern yachts without compromising functionality. The Tasman windlass exemplifies this philosophy, with a compact design, powerful motor, anodised aluminium gearbox and an adjustment system offering up to 14 different angles — details that simplify even emergency operations in a sector where reliability is an indispensable requirement.

The continued increase in superyacht size has led Maxwell to develop the SY series, designed for vessels up to 120 metres. The range is engineered to deliver high performance under heavy loads and complies with the requirements of all major classification societies — from RINA to DNV-GL, ABS and Lloyd’s Register — while integrating dedicated accessories such as chain stoppers, chain pipes and locking systems designed for severe operating environments. These are not isolated components but complete anchoring systems.

Born in Auckland, the brand has built a global presence through technical hubs, a structured distributor network and expertise capable of providing rapid support in every major cruising region: from the Pacific to North America, from the Mediterranean to key Asian markets. This expansion took a decisive step in 2008, when Maxwell Marine became part of the VETUS Group, which today manages its global distribution. The integration has strengthened the company’s commercial and logistical capabilities, making its solutions accessible to shipyards and operators worldwide.

Maxwell’s participation in METSTRADE 2025 confirms this international role, with a presence organised in two dedicated areas:

– Stand VETUS 01.341 for the Power & Sail range up to 22 metres;

– Stand 09.203 in the SuperYacht Pavilion for solutions designed for vessels over 23 metres.

As the market increasingly demands anchoring systems that are robust, efficient and fully integrated, Maxwell Marine arrives in Amsterdam with the same philosophy that has guided its growth: providing reliable, long-lasting equipment that enhances onboard safety. Today, supported by the VETUS Group and a global distribution network, the New Zealand company remains a key player in the technical supply chain of professional yachting and the superyacht sector.
