On the morning of Thursday, August 18, a violent whirlwind struck the Carrara coastline, in northern Tuscany region, creating several damages to marinas and shipyards, as well as to people and cities.

Among the boats affected was Giovanni Soldini's trimaran Maserati Multi70, which was lifted from its cradle and knocked down several meters away, suffering major damage to its hulls. Ultrasonic analysis of the affected parts will be conducted in the coming days to see if they are repairable.

Giovanni Soldini: "These extreme weather events, which are increasingly frequent and cause very serious damage, are linked to the high temperature of the Mediterranean Sea. The climate emergency is there for all to see, to limit the consequences we must act now."
