The Construction in Process Stage at the upcoming Metstrade Show will include a new round table session on boat construction & recycling techniques. This inspiring event on the second day of the show will feature a truly impressive line-up of speakers and participants from a wide range of countries and disciplines. The stage will also host demonstrations of manufacturing processes throughout the three days of Metstrade 2017, which runs from Tuesday 14 to Thursday 16 November.

After a successful launch last year, the Construction in Process Stage will make a welcome return to the 2017 edition of the METSTRADE Show in the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre. Throughout the three days of the event, this dedicated demonstration area will offer live presentations on how materials showcased in the Construction Material Pavilion (CMP) are actually produced. The new round table discussion on the Wednesday will feature the crème de la crème of the construction material industry.

Organised in cooperation with Simonetta Pegorari, a renowned communications & marketing specialist in composite materials, the event will focus on the highly topical subject of new materials and construction techniques for boats and yachts and end-of-life of FRP materials. The round table will provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas between technicians and yacht designers, while the public will also be given the chance to interact with the expert speakers and gain a greater understanding of the latest environmental, technical and regulatory issues.

Impressive line-up of speakers and participants

The moderator will be Enrico Della Valentina, Senior Project Manager Ships and Team Leader Yachts at MARIN. Speakers include Sergio Abrami (SA Yacht designer), Giovanni Belgrano (PURE Design and Engineering), Giuseppe Coccia (Studio Coccia), Valerio Corniani (DIAB), Filippo Cucinotta (Messina University), Antimo Di Martino (member of RES NOVA DIE scientific committee), Paolo Manganelli (Gurit), Sebastiano Morasutti (Trimarine), Daniele Meroni (Sika Italia) and Geoff Stock (NTPT).
Smart manufacturing

As a specialist platform for raw materials and composites within the leisure marine industry, the CMP is one of three dedicated ‘shows-within-a show’ at METSTRADE and continues to grow in influence since its introduction five years ago. Some 48 major exhibitors have already confirmed their participation with a month still to go, three more than were present at

METSTRADE 2016.
In addition to offering show visitors the very latest insights into innovative materials and how best to use them, the CMP’s Construction in Process Stage showcases some of the manufacturing processes behind them. Dutch company Ording Blockmakers will illustrate the traditional skills involved in making blocks in the 1700s before the advent of machinery. DIAB International, headquartered in Sweden, will demonstrate the benefits of core infusion compared to mesh infusion. Wessex Resins & Adhesives from the UK will explain how modern filleting and tabling techniques with structural epoxies can benefit the joining of wood or composite panels. The advanced composites specialists from Gurit will also make a live presentation.
