World Sailing confirms lead Race Official positions for LA28 Olympic Sailing Competition

World Sailing, the world governing body of the sport, is pleased to announce the lead Race Official appointments for the LA28 Olympic Sailing Competition.

The appointees are:

Ana Sanchez Del Campo (ESP), Chair of the International Jury - Continuing in the role following her leadership of the jury at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Ana will lead the jury at LA28 to ensure the Racing Rules of Sailing are properly applied to ensure a fair competition.

Chris Lindsay (IRL), Chief Umpire – Chair of the World Sailing International Umpires Sub-Committee with Olympic experience as a member of the jury at Paris 2024, Chris was one of the first digital ITO positions appointed by World Sailing at an Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

Corinne Aubert (FRA), Principal Race Officer – Prior Olympic experience as a race management ITO at Tokyo 2020 and in a national role as Course Race Officer at Paris 2024, Corinne will be responsible for leading a team of Course Representatives responsible for organising the racing of each Olympic Event with a supporting team of an additional International Race Officers.

Bas Edmonds (GBR), Chair of the Technical Committee (Long Beach) – Bas is a leading specialist in board measurement with prior Olympic experience at Paris 2024.

Dimitris Dimou (GRE), Chair of the Technical Committee (Port of LA) – Dimitris is the current chair of World Sailing’s Equipment Rules Sub-Committee and the Chair of the Technical Committee at Tokyo 2020.

Bas Edmonds and Dimitris Dimou will each be responsible for leading a committee of International Measurers at each venue, with a specific area of expertise related to the Olympic Equipment used in competition at the Games. The Technical Committee will be responsible for ensuring that each boat complies with the Class-specific rules.

Each appointee brings extensive Olympic experience across race management, umpiring, jury leadership, and technical inspection. We are confident their collective expertise will ensure World Sailing delivers an exceptional regatta in close partnership with LA28 and the IOC.”

These appointments bring strong Olympic pedigree to LA28. From jury and race management to technical committee oversight, this team has the skills and experience to deliver an exceptional Olympic regatta.”

These appointments add to the two Technical Delegate positions approved by the World Sailing Board in June. The remaining Technical Official positions, including Vice-Chairs, will be announced in due course.

The Olympic Sailing Competition at LA28 will be staged from 14–30 July 2028 across the waters of Belmont Shore in the Venue City of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles in the Host City of Los Angeles.
