We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! A lot has happened since we announced at the end of December 2025 that Tudor Team Alinghi will be competing in the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup.
Firstly, we have a new name: thanks to our naming partner, Tudor, we head into this campaign as Tudor Team Alinghi. In January, we were officially presented at the ACP (America’s Cup Partnership) team launch event at the magnificent Palazzo Reale in Naples, Italy. Since then, we have grown from just seven to around 50 Team Members.
Back on the Water
Last week, we finally got back out sailing. Our boats were still based in Barcelona, and the Team spent several days training on the waters where the last America’s Cup took place. While the sailing team is not yet final – the AC40 requires fewer sailors on board than the AC75 racing yacht – we are actively testing different crew configurations to find the optimal setup.
Meet the crew for Cagliari
With the team significantly refreshed since the last Cup, partly due to rule changes, we have now identified the six sailors who will be represent Tudor Team Alinghi at the opening regatta of the 38th America’s Cup in Sardinia.
The crew is led by Olympic and multiple world champion Paul Goodison (GBR), as skipper and helmsman, and consists of the following sailors, listed in alphabetical order:
Nathalie Brugger (SUI) – Helmswoman; competed in the inaugural Women’s America’s Cup in 2024 with Alinghi Red Bull Racing.
Phil Robertson (NZL) – Helmsman; previously coach of the team during the 37th America’s Cup campaign.
Nicolas Rolaz (SUI) – Trimmer; the youngest team member, preparing for his second America’s Cup.
Pietro Sibello (ITA) – Trimmer; Head Coach during the last campaign, now eligible as a national sailor under the current rules.
Jason Waterhouse (AUS) – Helmsman/Trimmer; also part of the coaching team during the 37th America’s Cup.
Excellent training days
“We enjoyed six excellent days of training in Barcelona, making the most of a wide range of conditions while rotating through different configurations,” said Nathalie Brugger. “For me, it was a particularly steep but rewarding learning curve. Sailing alongside such experienced America’s Cup sailors was invaluable. The team has been incredibly open and supportive. As a new group, we’re not only progressing on the water, but also building strong cohesion and trust off it."
Adiós Barcelona, ciao Italia!
After enjoying a well-earned BBQ, it’s now time to pack up and move on to the next chapter. We are heading to Sardinia from mid-May where we’ll be preparing for the first preliminary regatta in Cagliari. You can find out everything you need to know about the venue here. https://www.americascup.com/sardinia. We look forward to seeing you there!
