Wally’s 2026 racing season starts in the British Virgin Islands with the second edition of the North Sound Maxi Regatta (20-24 March). From there the calendar moves to the Mediterranean: Sorrento, Porto Cervo, and a finale at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez (26 September - 4 October).
North Sound Maxi Regatta
The invitation-only regatta brings together 11 maxis. Among them are the two wallycentos Galateia and V, which already met at the Bucket Regatta in Saint Barth, where V won a head-to-head match race.
Wally is a founding partner of the event. On 21 March the yard hosts a post-racing cocktail at the Biras Creek Resort in North Sound, open to owners, crews and enthusiasts.
Wally Performance Trophy
This year sees the debut of the Wally Performance Trophy. At each regatta the fastest Wally in both the maxi and rocket classes is awarded points, feeding into an overall season ranking. The final trophy is presented at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.
A growing wallyrocket fleet
The wallyrocket51, a monohull designed to be the fastest in the world under ORC/IRC rules, will have three boats racing in the Mediterranean this summer. A fourth is in the final stages of fitting out and will be delivered shortly to an Italian team with ambitions in the IRC and ORC circuits.
The wallyrocket71, unveiled in June 2025 at the Loro Piana Giraglia, won the World Championship at Porto Cervo in its very first season. Wally plans a dedicated wallyrocket class from 2027.
The wallynano class
The wallynano37, a daysailer designed by André Hoek, is also developing its own racing calendar. Capable of exceeding 20 knots downwind in planing mode, the wallynano37 fleet is beginning to take shape as a class.
