An informal talk hosted in the village square of Portofino to celebrate the success of the team

The meeting, organized by Pirelli, in collaboration with the Municipality of Portofino, was held yesterday, July 9th, in the spectacular setting of the Portofino square, to celebrate the adventure of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli in the latest edition of the America's Cup, held in Auckland between January and March 2021.

The talk, moderated by journalist Giovanni Bruno, hosted as guests on stage team President Patrizio Bertelli, with Marco Tronchetti Provera, Pirelli Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, and representing team members Max Sirena (Skipper and Team Director), Francesco Bruni (Helmsman), Gilberto Nobili (Operations Manager) and Horacio Carabelli (Design Coordiantor).
In the audience there were, the President of the Circolo della Vela Sicilia, Agostino Randazzo, and some team members, including the two Ligurian, Michele Cannoni (Boat Captain) and Massimiliano Carbone (responsible for hydraulic systems), and sailors Shannon Falcone, Davide Cannata and Nicholas Brezzi.

The slant of the event focused on the team’s final months in Auckland, with images and stories of its main players. Several references were made to previous campaigns, highlighting the importance of technology in this competition. In this, collaboration with the Pirelli research and development department proved to be essential for the designers in developing some of the boat’s components.
On stage the PRADA Cup was displayed, the trophy won following the victory of the Challenger Selection Series in which Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli beat the English of INEOS Team UK and earned the right to challenge the New Zealanders, defenders of the Cup, in the Final Match.
In closing, all participants confirmed their will to compete in the next edition of the America’s Cup, for which the new rule is still be announced. The publication of the new protocol - containing the conditions, event location and date -  by the New Zealanders is expected in mid-September. At that point it will be possible to start up again “We will return, stronger than ever, with one common, shared goal: to win the America’s Cup with Luna Rossa and to win it for Italy.”
