Thursday 21 October, 2021 - On 7 November 2021, the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild will take the start of her second Transat Jacques Vabre. A double-handed transatlantic, her skippers Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier are well versed in the race having already amassed five victories between them. It is nearly time for festivities to commence in this 15th edition since all the competitors are expected dockside at the heart of the Norman City from 28 October.
See you in Le Havre!

A promising 2021 vintage

A double-handed transatlantic race setting sail from Le Havre in northern France and bound, for the first very first time, for Fort-de-France in Martinique, the Transat Jacques Vabre ranks among France's major offshore races. This year, some 80 duos will set off from the ocean city, which has been designated a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

Aboard the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier will once again join forces to try and hunt down victory in a race that promises to be as thrilling as it is closely contested. Indeed, this 15th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre heralds an epic comeback by the giants and above all the return of a pretty even fleet in the Ultime category. On 7 November 2021, offshore of the cliffs of Etretat, the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild will face off against four other large oceanic multihulls, with two of the giants having only recently been launched. It's sure to be a hard-fought battle in this very refined line-up.

However, the skippers of Gitana Team have already shown on countless occasions that they are a dynamic duo, much feared by their rivals. Between the two of them, Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier have amassed five victories in the Transat Jacques Vabre: three for Franck in the multihull category, whilst Charles has made it onto the top step of the podium twice, on a monohull in 2009 and on a multihull in 2013 with the Multi70 Edmond de Rothschild.

Our skippers' presence

Charles Caudrelier and Franck Cammas will be present in Le Havre from 28 October to late morning on 31 October. Following the official presentation of the skippers, they'll allow themselves a few days away from the hectic pre-race buzz. The duo will then return on the morning of Thursday 4 November to attend the safety briefing and will remain there through until the race start on 7 November. The Maxi Edmond de Rothschild will be moored alongside the Quai de Guinée in the Bassin de l'Eure, where it will be impossible to miss our Cleon Peterson design gipsy.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us should you wish to have a chat or an interview with them. Another notable point about this race start in Le Havre, is the fact that Charline Hamonic, who has had a few months off for the sweetest and most important of reasons, will also be making her comeback... her number remains unchanged!
