Azzurra and TP52 fleet wait for breeze tomorrow

There was no racing today for Azzurra and the rest of the TP52 fleet racing in the 2019 52 Super Series in Mahon due to light conditions. Fingers are crossed for better breeze tomorrow.
Even the most competitive professional sailing league can be held back by the weather and in today’s case it was lack of wind that kept these keelboat thoroughbreds chomping the bit idly in the water. In fact, there was no racing in the second day of the first event of the 52 Super Series in Mahon.
After first hoisting ashore the AP signal, the Race Committee and the fleet of TP52s headed out to wait for breeze. On the North course, where racing was held yesterday, there were just six knots of breeze from the southeast that encountered another slight breeze from the north and added up to nothing. At 4:30 PM the AP on A signal was hoisted: no racing for today, but the event will continue.
Azzurra remains in the lead of the provisional scoreboard followed by Platoon and Bronenosec. Tomorrow the first Warning Signal is scheduled for an hour later than today: 1.30PM CEST. The forecast calls for light air from the south/southwest. Live updates straight from the regatta course will be posted on Azzurra’s Facebook page and fans can go to www.azzurra.it and www.52superseries.com for virtual tracking with commentary in English.
