The 34-metre explorer motor yacht Lady Lene has been launched at the Van der Valk shipyard in Waalwijk, the Netherlands.
With the launch taking place on 15th October, the expedition-style yacht Lady Lene features exterior design from the drawing boards of Guido de Groot Design, naval architecture by Ginton Naval Architects and Diana Yacht Design, and interiors penned by Carla Guilhem in collaboration with Guido de Groot Design.
Commissioned by a repeat Van der Valk client who was represented by YachtCreators, Lady Lene will be fully wheelchair accessible thanks to the presence of an elevator connecting all decks. Furthermore, her sophisticated interior has been designed with accessibility and ease of movement as a top priority: all floors in the yacht are flush, and the design is characterised by round corners and a lack of sharp edges and angles.
Interior designer Carla Guilhem commented: “My three words to describe the interiors of Lady Lene would be calm, welcoming and liveable. The interiors do not interfere with the exterior design but work with it, and our idea was that the owner and family could feel comfortable living there for a long time.”
Designer Guido de Groot added: “I first started making the sketches for Lady Lene around Christmas two years ago – that is a really short period of time to build and deliver such a large and complex boat to our client: it is quite an amazing project.”
Accommodation is comprised of two owner’s cabins (one on the bridge deck, and one located
midships on the lower deck) as well as two VIP cabins and a bunk for children on the lower deck. A
crew of seven is also housed on board across four cabins.
The main deck is home to a spacious and airy open-plan lounge and dining area perfect for relaxing in all weathers. As the true focal point of the yacht’s design – and a clear priority for her highly sociable owners – the aft entertainment space offers various zones perfect for lounging and dining, as well as an alfresco bar and swim platform. High ceilings can be found throughout the yacht to make the most of all of the available space.
Performance-wise, Lady Lene also leaves nothing to be desired. An all-aluminium superyacht sporting a round bilge fast-displacement hull, twin MAN 1650 hp engines enable her to reach a top speed of 18 knots and cruise comfortably at 14 knots.
Lady Lene is slated for delivery to her experienced owners at the end of 2021.
