The SW96 Sorceress has achieved a fantastic result

Keeping her successful race pedigree intact, the SW96 Sorceress has achieved a fantastic result; this time in the RORC Caribbean 600 and after more than 2 days at sea.  Arriving in Antigua as 3rd monohull to cross the line, she finished behind the first monohull – Wizard, a Volvo 70 who took line honours and only 5 hours behind Nikata, a 115’ Judel Vrolijk one-off racer cruiser.   With over 50 yachts starting in the IRC Division, and 15 legs over the 632 nautical mile course around the Caribbean islands, the crew of Sorceress worked hard to achieve this incredible result.

Sorceress’ owner was on board for the race and absolutely delighted with the result.  Jim Schmicker, Vice President of Farr Yacht Design said on their arrival in Antigua, "Congratulations to Will Apold and his crew for an excellent result being the third monohull to finish, after powering around the 632 mile course at an impressive average of 11.9 knots.  The Caribbean 600 is a tough race and completing it in such an exceptional way is a tribute to the crew and the quality of the boat.  Credit to Southern Wind for such an outstanding yacht.  Sorceress is a yacht that easily shifts between luxury cruiser and capable racer and we look forward to many more exciting results from her."

This achievement is made even more spectacular, when you see her luxurious interior from Nauta Design – the entire race crew completed the race in total comfort, despite the challenges of a 600-mile long offshore race.
