8 February 2021: Oyster Yachts has appointed Peter Hamlyn as Chief Operations Officer. Peter brings over 30 years of invaluable experience and highly relevant manufacturing and management expertise to the luxury blue water yacht company, having held senior operations roles at both Princess Yachts and Fairline Yachts.

Well known within the marine industry, Peter’s role at Princess Yachts included responsibility for the manufacture of all models across the Princess range, as well as overseeing quality assurance, health and safety and engineering functions, and managing over 600 production staff.

Passionate about high quality boat building, Peter started his marine career as a Shipwright at Princess Yachts, before progressing through the company to be appointed to the Executive Team.  His years of experience include operational and change management, including improvements in implementing high-quality cost-effective manufacturing, alignment of processes to improve lead-times, and developing processes for inventory, transportation and workforce effectiveness.

“We’re extremely excited to welcome Peter to the team. He brings a rare blend of hands-on, practical and managerial experience having started on the factory floor and worked his way up to board level.  He has a pragmatic, proven expertise in managing highly valued craftspeople, alongside change management and production quality across all aspects of manufacturing processes,” says Richard Hadida, CEO and Owner of Oyster Yachts.

Peter Hamlyn adds: “Manufacturing high quality yachts involves understanding the development of modern technology and processes, with the appreciation of traditional craft and highly skilled craftspeople. We will exploit new technology to compliment artisan skills, so we can deliver exciting product improvements, alongside timely and profitable production of the world’s finest quality bluewater cruising yacht.”
