Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in the luxury retail sector, luce 5 yachting is dedicated to developing high-end lighting solutions for the superyacht market.

Lighting design - on land or at sea - has evolved dramatically in recent years in line with rapid advances in energy-efficient LED technology and domotic software. It is longer about simply illuminating a space: it is also about sculpting light from eco-friendly sources to create atmosphere and emotion that are tailored to different tastes and requirements.

And Luce 5 is lighting the way…

Based in Tuscany with offices in Hong Kong and Japan (and soon in the USA), Luce 5 is a specialist lighting design company that collaborates with some of the leading retail brands in the world, including Prada, Miu Miu, Bulgari, Fendi, Boucheron, Zanotti and Zegna. We help our demanding clients develop their lighting concepts, then produce and install high-quality lighting fixtures that are customised to their technical and aesthetic needs.

A landmark case study is the flagship Bulgari store on 5th Avenue in New York. Working closely with architect Frank Spadaro of the renowned Peter Marino studio, more than 30 lightmakers from Luce 5 integrated 1,800 dimmable lights, over 500 metres of LED strips and more than 2,500 Wi-Fi DMX channels into the glittering façade of the building. The result is simply breathtaking: unlimited animation possibilities that can be controlled at the touch of a tablet app.

From concept to completion

None of this would have been possible without extensive experience, technical know-how, and the ability to respond to complex demands with creative yet workable solutions. In fact, the Bulgari project alone required over 350 hours of electrical and electronic R&D to realise.

Experimentation yields innovation and our research laboratory is able to measure, verify and certify the project targets to guarantee customers the desired effect and performance. Slight variations in the LED manufacturing process, particularly with regard to colour temperature, mean individual LEDs are very difficult to make exactly alike. In a process known as ‘LED binning’, we select only the highest-quality, last-generation LED chips to ensure constant colour temperature and repeatable colour rendering of objects. The result is harmonious lighting throughout our products.

At Luce 5 we are also good listeners, so we can balance your creative ideas with feasibility and production considerations. We then put our professional in-house team at your disposal to engineer and shape your concepts into prototypes and mock-ups.

The ultimate goal is to develop lighting solutions that are perfectly harmonised with the interior and exterior furnishings, decor and ambience. But the relationship with our clients does not end here, and our technical team stays in touch with customers long after the installation and commissioning is complete.

New horizons

Luce 5 Yachting was established so that the yachting industry could benefit from our proven reputation and expertise in the luxury retail sector. Unlike a building, a yacht is constantly moving and the saline environment is not friendly to electrical or electronic systems. This makes it a demanding environment for lighting designers to work in.

We have specifically developed a series of hardware collections that resolve the challenges of lighting at sea, whether for new build projects or ‘relamping’ during refits. Based on state-of-the-art technology, Luce 5 Yachting is able to deliver inspiring and sustainable solutions that withstand the test of time and the harsh marine environment.

In the two short years since Luce 5 Yachting was set up, we have collaborated with Benetti on 11 new-build yacht projects, including two 100m-plus megayachts due to launch in 2019. These variously involved working one-on-one with the interior designers to develop bespoke lighting solutions, from strip LEDs and decorative lamps to luminous panels. We have also signed off two major refit projects: the restyling of M/Y Falcon (ex-Sai Ram) and the refitting of 85.5m Oceanco M/Y Sunrays.

We are not just lighting suppliers. We are lighting integrators who take into account the myriad properties of LEDs – mechanical, electrical and electronic – to provide turnkey solutions that ensure only the best quality standards and harmonisation of light.

“Our idea is to create a unique lighting project designed just for you, to brighten your asset, highlight your concept and confer an extra emotional element to the spaces reserved for you and your guests, Our aim is to give life to your vision anywhere in the world through our passion, our competence in the field and the latest technology available.”

Whether you are an owner, designer, builder or broker, we would be delighted to meet you at our Viareggio office during the 2018 Versilia Yachting Rendez-Vous (10-13 May) to discuss your next lighting project.
