EMYN Company has become an official supplier for the Vendée Globe

The Éoliennes en Mer îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN) company and the SAEM Vendée, the company that organises the Vendée Globe, todayAdd an event for today annonunced their partnership has been renewed for the 2020 Vendée Globe, the legendary non-stop solo race around the world without assistance.

Committed to the sustainable promotion of the  Vendée Area

By renewing this partnership as “Official Renewable Energy Supplier” for the Vendée Globe, EMYN has extended the major commitment made with local bodies in 2013 to promote and support emblematic events in Vendée.
EMYN has joined local institutions and firms working alongside the SAEM Vendée which runs the leading sporting event in the nautical sector.

About Éoliennes en Mer îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN)

The Éoliennes en Mer îles d’Yeu et de Noirmouteir (EMYN) company is developing a wind farm out at sea off the coast of Vendée offering 496 MW of power, which should generate an average of 1900 GWh per year of sustainable energy, which corresponds to the annual consumption of electricity of almost 800,000 people, or in other words more than the total population of Vendée.

The Éoliennes en Mer îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN) company won the state’s call for tender in 2014 to develop a wind farm at sea off the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier. In October 2018, EMYN obtained the administrative permits required to build the farm, which is due to come into service in 2023, unless there is an appeal against the process. This company is owned by ENGIE (31%), EDP Renewables (29.5%), Sumitomo Corporation (29,5%) and the Banque des Territoires (10%).

EMYN is involved in the fight against global warming

A leading player in the marine renewables sector, EMYN is involved in the fight against global warming by contributing to achieving the targets laid down by the Energy-climate law (adopted in 2019) of reaching the goal of 33% renewable energy for France’s power supply by 2030.
