Today was one in which the right tactical decisions were of the utmost importance.

While the weather remained beautifully warm, competitors were thoroughly tested by a series of light showers that moved across the race area, playing havoc with the wind strength and direction.

Nevertheless, many of the familiar names still topped the leaderboards, including Giovanni Belgrano’s classic yacht Whooper, who took his second win of the week in IRC Class 6.

Today was Ladies day at Lendy Cowes Week, a celebration of women in sailing and their many achievements in all aspects of the sport, from inshore racing to round-the-world marathons. It will conclude this evening with the presentation of the Lendy Ladies Day Trophy.

Tracy Edwards MBE is in Cowes today at Lendy Ladies Day to announce her exciting new project, 30 years after she and 11 women set sail on Maiden to become the first all-female crew to sail in the Whitbred Round the World Race.
