Day 3 is Charity Day at Lendy Cowes Week 2018. Activities lined up included the 1851 Trust workshop, “Past, Present & Future”.

Based in Portsmouth at the INEOS TEAM UK, British America's Cup team headquarters, the 1851 Trust is a dynamic and innovative educational charity committed to inspiring young people through sailing to become innovators of the future and stewards of the environment. Their sailing inspired programmes have reached over 90,000 young people in the last academic year.

The Trust aims to bring alive the innovation and excitement of the America’s Cup for young people in classrooms, Roadshows and on the water across the UK; challenging them to challenge themselves.

After a long postponement this morning, waiting for a sea breeze to set in, Cowes enjoyed another glorious day of racing in bright sun and a solid 10-14 knot south westerly breeze.

The 100 strong Squib fleet, which is holding its National Championship at Lendy Cowes Week had a classic start, short tacking along the Green, before a windward-leeward course in Gurnard Bay.

A number of the bigger yachts suffered the ignominy of running aground in front of hoards of spectators – and swimmers – as they tried to too close to the shore to gain relief from the adverse tide after their starts

Sir Ben Ainslie’s America’s Cup Team INEOS added to the colour on the water this afternoon with a GC32 foiling catamaran.
