The UIM President Raffaele Chiulli meets lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Members of Government
UIM President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli met with the Prime Minister of Lebanon Mr. Saad Hariri in Beirut. The meeting was attended by Admiral Edmond Chaghoury, President of the Lebanese Motorboat Federation and UIM Platinum Member.
Dr. Chiulli and the Prime Minister Hariri, in a very open and constructive way, discussed the joint projects and initiatives to be developed in Lebanon, such as the creation of a UIM Academy, the organization of the 2018 UIM General Assembly and staging top level powerboating events in Lebanon.
At the press conference which followed the meeting, the Prime Minister Hariri stated "I Saad El Hariri personally, and as Lebanon Prime Minister am all in and ready to support and sponsor all your projects, as I will be upon your disposal in any needed situation".
UIM President Raffaele Chiulli added: "We are proud to be recognized as the sole competent authority in Powerboating and Aquabike / Jet Ski by the International Olympic Committee and we are convinced that Sport is an extraordinary means to show and disseminate those values such as passion, loyalty and fair competition which are fundamentals in our today’s society. The UIM is involved in several initiatives of the Olympic Movement related to giving access to sport as a right for all, in engaging in clean sports activities with a special focus on youth and promoting, through our athletes, the values of Olympism as a life philosophy that combines sport, education and culture.”
He also underlined that “The creation of the UIM Academy in Lebanon is in line with our vision in the UIM Youth Development Program: building a better world by educating youth through sport. We do support all initiatives, like the creation of UIM Academies, designed to promote participation, good governance, integrity and social inclusion. In UIM we pride ourselves to work towards enhancing equality, diversity and inclusion in today’s society also through the Recovery through Sports’ Program.”
