As the curtain fell on the F18 World Championship in Sarasota, Florida, USA it was Iordanis Paschalidis and Konstantinos Trigonis (GRE) who walked away as World Champions.

Unstable wind conditions were present from the very start of the World Championship and when most, if not all, of the competitors picked up one or two bad results, the Greek pair remained consistent. They achieved four bullets and nothing worse than an eighth to claim the title, following being crowned European Championship in July.

On the final day, races 11 and 12 were held meaning that a second discard could come into effect.

Eastern Yacht Club members Michael Easton and Tripp Burd had a pretty consistent series and finished on 50 points to take second. Panama City pair Taylor Reiss and Matthew Whitehead claimed the final podium spot when Dutch father and son team, Hans & Marius Van Dam had a mixed final day to step back from second to fourth.

Frm a Class point of view, to count no less than five different designs in the top ten is proof of the interest and effectiveness of the Formula 18 box rule, written 25 years ago.
