Tight, tactical battles continue at the Hempel Sailing World Championships

The Hempel Sailing World Championships continues to deliver tight and tactical racing following another day of light breeze that tested the competitors’ nerve with the business end of the competition in full swing.

After a day off, the Laser and Laser Radial sailors hit the water for gold fleet racing as the pressure ramped. Sailors’ are targeting the podium and the best of the best in Laser racing faced off for the first time. Matt Wearn (AUS) had the best of the day in the Laser, securing a third and a ninth which hands him the lead. Overnight leader Sam Meech (NZL) struggled in the breeze, dropping to third.  

As of 18:50 local time, the Laser Radial fleet are sailing their seventh race of the series.
