Videoworks confirms yet again its leading role in the market of superyacht IT systems in the latest edition of the World Superyacht Awards. The shipyards of eight of the shortlisted yachts in the various categories had chosen to use the know-how of the Italian company. Two won the award in their category among the eight yachts:

Baglietto M/Y Andiamo - Category: Displacement Motor Yachts below 500GT 40m and above
Cantiere delle Marche M/Y Hymna – Category: Displacement Motor Yachts below 500GT 30-40m
Cerri Cantieri Navali M/Y Elsea – Category: Semi displacement or planning 3 deck Motor Yachts
CRN M/Y Cloud 9 - Category: Displacement Motor Yachts 2,000GT and Above
Custom Line Navetta 33 - Category: Semi-Displacement or Planing Three Deck Motor Yachts
Feadship M/Y Hasna - Category: Displacement Motor Yachts Between 500GT and 1,999GT
ISA Yachts M/Y Clorinda – Category: Semi displacement or planning 2 deck Motor Yachts
Perini Navi S/Y Seven – Category: Sailing Yachts 50m and above

The use of audio/video systems, domotics and an on-board network, currently among the main requests made by owners and guests, contributed to these yachts being shortlisted. Looking at a soccer match on a large screen with very high resolution, listening to excellent music with loudspeakers that faithfully reproduce pure sounds, giving a party on board, managing lights, blinds, multi-media contents and air conditioning and browsing the internet in a secure and reliable manner are now must-haves of system integration.

TECHNOLOGIES DEDICATED TO COMFORT

Videoworks has shown great versatility when dealing with the most diverse systems on board. A few examples?
The challenge facing the designers on the CRN M/Y Cloud 9 was to obtain excellent sound quality while reducing the architectural impact of the installation. The solution chosen by CRN and Videoworks was to use the Revolution Acoustics SSP6 multiducers. This particular high-tech product is installed on surfaces and works thanks to a normal audio amplifier. Surfaces became real, invisible audio speaker walls.

On the M/Y Elsea, in addition to complete audio/video support,Videoworks developed the lighting project - intended as light engineering and light design based on the LUTRON system, whereas the exteriors were managed with outdoor RGB lights, RGB Underwater lights and integration of LALIQUE lamps with DALI control.

Videoworks also dealt with the lighting on board the Perini Navi Seven yacht, where the lightingdesign is a complete mixture of direct, indirect and backlit illumination, never losing the right balance among the various elements.

Videoworks opted for installing the new Kaleidescape Strato on the ISA Yachts M/Y Clorinda.  It is the first ultra HD media player with HDR. Films are downloaded from the net and stored on a hard disk, with Ultra HD resolution, up to 60 frames per second.

The audio-video systems on the M/Y Andiamo di Baglietto are controlled via an iPad that uses the ITWMode Plus application. The centralised audio system has a party system. Videoworks also dealt with managing Internet via Kerio Control NG500.

Lastly, boarding the M/Y Hymna, built by the Cantiere delle Marche shipyard, the audio system can be enjoyed through James Loudspeaker speakers for exteriors and Sonance speakers in the interiors.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE SYSTEMS ON BOARD THE WINNERS

Among the eight shortlisted yachts, two won the award in their category, namely Feadship M/Y Hasna (Displacement Motor Yachts Between 500GT and 1,999GT) and Navetta 33 by Custom Line (Semi-Displacement or Planing Three Deck Motor Yachts).
On board the Hasna, Videoworks concentrated on security and creating the network. Using Cisco and Kerio units, the Italian company created a professional, high level IT system. Optic fibres and copper wires were chosen for the cabled local network. The infrastructure serves the IT system, the AV and domotics system, with great attention on cybersecurity - to that end Videoworks created a tailored solution to optimise performance and security at the same time, combining the best technological products available on the market.

On the Navetta 33, in addition to the IT system (which also relies on Cisco and Kerio Control units), Videoworks has also managed the audio system. Fully waterproof, aluminium, Marine Grade James Loudspeaker speakers have been installed on the sundeck exteriors and in the cockpit, guaranteeing a powerful, crystal-clear sound. Professional K-Array Viper loudspeakers have been installed in the inside living areas.

The audio/video system, and the domotics in the owner’s quarters, in the exteriors and in the guests’ cabins, are controlled via an iPad Mini, which has the MyInfo software among its functions. MyInfo is a fully integrated entertainment-info-domotic system that uses a software with a graphic interface developed by Videoworks. It can carry out a number of functions and display all information via an iPad, iPhone or Apple TV.  Intuitive, customisable and easy to use, MyInfo can be used to control the closed-circuit video systems, the nautical charts, navigation data and much more.
