Art and Technology at Your Fingertips is the leitmotif at the F.lli Razeto & Casareto stand in the Super Yacht Pavilion at the METS which focuses on the large pleasure craft that have become a signifier of extreme exclusivity. A wide array of handles is showcased, not least the FreeGo series which takes its inspiration from biomimicry in nature and was the forerunner of the various product lines which Giangi Razeto, the company’s creative driving force, designed specifically to enhance to exclusive effect the interiors of even the most luxurious yachts. Artistic handles also available in luminous versions – the illumination system is a world-exclusive patent and uses wireless technology that incorporates special safety and staff management functions. It spans a variety of models created using luxury materials and techniques which have ushered in a whole new take on the luxury handle concept.
The most significant technological plus of the FreeGo luminous handles is that they don’t simply integrate seamlessly with the domotics systems often found aboard megayachts but do so also with their security and safety systems. Furthermore they are designed and created specifically for maritime use and thus to efficiency standards guaranteed for that environment.
Alongside the classic FreeGo handles, is on show the Tributes serie which is an authentic homage to luxury. It includes the world’s most expensive handle, which is now biquitously known as the 100K, and is trimmed entirely in diamonds. Needless to say, the ultra-luxe version can cost up to 100,000 euro.
The Tribute to Sicily, launched at last year’s METS, is a new creative direction for F.lli Razeto & Casareto’s luxury handles once again inspired by Giangi Razeto’s concept. This time, however, it has been opened up to artistic and formal influences from leading international masters who have used astonishing materials and techniques to create absolutely unique handles.
A Remix of cultures and influences, materials and forms that is putting F.lli Razeto & Casareto’s luxury product lines on a par with genuine haute couture collections. They are aimed, moreover, at individuals searching for unique, once-off objects that could well be defined as works of art in their own right.
The FreeGo Finger Print handles by Karel Ruzicka, a 360° artist, stringed-instrument-maker, musician and designer, are part of the Remix of the FreeGo handle concept design. Maestro Ruzicka has created his own linear-minimalist interpretation inspired by the concept of lightness. He used premium grade African ebony, an incredibly light, black wood with a very fine grain for which it is highly prized. He also uses this wood to restore very valuable vintage string instruments. Fingerprints is also the name of his latest CD.
The FreeGo Damasco, on the other hand, is a Remix by Luca Pizzi of Forgia Pizzi , an Italian artist who chose steel for his handle, imbuing it with the same robustness and precision as a sword.
Pizzi has created a sculptural handle in stainless steel Damascus-forged in an inert oxygen-free atmosphere. It is the fruit of extensive and ongoing experiments that have produced a luxury handle that is absolutely unique of its kind.
The Razeto & Casareto stand in the SYP also features the Swim handle which is made exclusively for Majesty Yachts. This is a FreeGo sculpted into flowing lines and inspired by a swimming mermaid. It won a Yacht and Aviation Award in 2018 and is currently nominated for the 2019 German Design Awards.
The Swim is flanked by the “Diver in a School of Anchovies” designed by artist Giuliana Poggi. This design was developed with Astrati, a 3D print services company which scanned the artwork and then 3D-printed it with a coating of 24 carat gold. The handle features the silhouette of a woman diving into a stylized school of fish. It is split into two halves, creating two handles, and is ideal for glass or Plexiglas double doors. The artist has created a stunning Plexiglas panel designed to create the impression that the lady diver, featured cameo-style, is diving into a stretch of sea alive with schooling anchovies.
