Along with all the other big names in the boating world, Besenzoni, which supplies all the main boat manufacturers in every country, naturally considered it essential to attend both the Miami International Boat Show and the new Miami Yacht Show. Among the wide range of products showcased at the American shows from 14 to 18 February, we would like to highlight the PI 382 Gangway and the SP601 Ladder.

Besenzoni, a company in constant expansion, will take part in the Miami International Boat Show and the Miami Yacht Show, which is now held in a new unique exhibition centre in the heart of the city. It will be sharing a stand with its US distributor, Imtra, which has been an important provider of solutions and products in the yachting and maritime sector since 1952.

Among the branded products on show at the fair are the PI 382 Sprint model automatically operated telescopic gangway and the SP 601 hydraulically operated retractable ladder/gangway, two items that stand out due to their impressive versatility and usefulness.
In particular, the PI 382, made from electro-polished or painted stainless steel, combines the functions of gangway and davit. It is equipped with an electro-hydraulic power unit with infra-red remote control for operation from the cockpit.  There are automatic stanchions with ropes as standard on the starboard side. The footboard features teak grating with mounted courtesy lights.

The SP 601 retractable ladder/gangway is operated hydraulically, can be tilted upwards or downwards and has self-levelling teak steps. It is available either in polished, powder-coated, or chrome-finish stainless steel. The stanchions with rope are manually operated and retractable. The control panel for operating the ladder can be located in the cockpit. It is equipped with a hydraulic power unit and has an infra-red remote control. There is an optional “ladder outside” sensor intended to warn the bridge when the boat sets off.

All the numbers revealing year-on-year success

The Bergamo-based company, now over 50 years old, is ready to return to the USA in 2019 with its “made in Italy” brand, which is a guarantee of quality for its 170-plus products.  Besenzoni enjoyed an extremely positive 2018, reporting an increase in turnover of 13% compared with the last 4 years, thanks to its fruitful collaboration with all the most important manufacturers of boats of all kinds.

There were equally impressive, very “concrete” numbers associated with the number of finished products and the amount of material used to create them...

We’ve kept count of some of these relating to the period January 2018 until today and the numbers speak for themselves: 104 davits, each with an average lifting capacity of 500 kg, which is the equivalent of 52,000 kilograms in total: enough to lift ten elephants! We have also produced 535 hydraulic gangways: all the LED lights mounted in the footboards could light up a Christmas tree over 20 metres high.
If all the ropes used for the stanchions of the gangways were joined together, they would measure 5,320 metres: almost as high as the base camp on the southern slope of Mount Everest, which is 5,364 metres high. On the other hand, the total length of the stainless steel tubes used for the automatically operated stanchions measures 5,080 metres, while the number of hydraulic joints manufactured was 95,000.

In addition, we have manufactured 109 swim platforms during this period, with an approximate overall lifting capacity of 54,000 kg, while our Sarnico facility produced 900 helm seats: if we assume an average of 6 sq m of material for each one, this material would cover over half of a Serie A football pitch.

In the past year Besenzoni has manufactured 129 ladders, comprising approximately 645 steps: the Spanish Steps has 136 steps leading up to the Trinità dei Monti church in Rome, and the pyramid of Chichen Itza has 91. 672 tables, 78 sunroofs and 14 balconies are testament to the amount of work, dedication, and energy the company has put in during the past year.

Besenzoni will be at the Miami International Boat Show from 14 to 18 February at stand number C285 – IMTRA’s C tent. Besenzoni's products will also be on view at our American distributor’s stand at the Miami Yacht Show, Booth 139.
