The 2025 iQFOiL Youth & Junior European Championships concluded in Arzachena , Sardinia : a week of wind, sun, and pure adrenaline that saw the young Italians of the iQFOiL class among the stars. Mattia and Medea shone above all others , having won the European title at the end of an intense and exciting competition.

The turquoise waters of Sardinia offered perfect conditions for a thrilling and comprehensive challenge, with days of variable winds that tested the young windsurfers' technique, clarity of mind, and ability to adapt. Through strategy, concentration, and dramatic turns, Mattia and Medea demonstrated extraordinary strength and determination, a symbol of the growth and maturity of the Italian youth windsurfing movement.

Leading the Italian team on the regatta course was federal coach Antonino Cangemi , in an event that brought together over 300 athletes from 28 nations .

Alessandra Sensini , Technical Director of the Youth Teams, present during the medals:

"They had two fantastic finals, they were brilliant. Medea entered second and Mattia third, but both had great starts. Saoncella took the lead right away and managed to hold onto it until the end, with his opponents pressing him closely, maintaining composure and concentration until the finish.

Medea was also extraordinary: she passed first, then came out second downwind, and in the slalom, on the final gybe, she entered the inside and overtook her opponent with great determination. Both demonstrated composure and clarity, qualities that demonstrate significant maturity and growth over the past year.

I'm very satisfied with the work federal coach Antonino Cangemi is doing, as well as the club coaches, who are always in constant contact with him: they manage to work as a team. Really good, everyone."

Antonino Cangemi , FIV iQFOiL Technician:

It was a truly challenging championship, of the highest level and above all complete. We managed to compete in all the disciplines—sprint slalom, sprint upwind, and course race—and the boys were able to always stay at the top thanks to their consistency in every event.

They then played a magnificent final right down to the last breath, with an impressive cross-court speed that allowed them to overtake their opponent in the final stretch and secure the victory. They were truly brilliant.

I want to thank the club coaches for their invaluable collaboration, and of course the kids and their families for the commitment, support, and passion that make results of this level possible. Thanks also to the Federation and all the coaching staff for their continued support.
