Zeelander Yachts is delighted to announce the delivery of another Zeelander 5, this time to a Turkish client. Dangerously seductive and effortlessly powerful, the yacht is already basking under the Mediterranean sun where her Bentley-inspired metallic paintwork glitters to its fullest effect.
Perfectly matching the owner’s car and aircraft, the Light Gazelle finish shimmers between grey and bronze, making a striking statement of individuality. With its sinuous lines, the hull contrasts beautifully with the copious curved glass of the superstructure, which is delicately tinted for extra privacy.
Every Zeelander yacht is bespoke – a meticulous work of art rather than a mere product. The latest delivery exemplifies this approach, styled inside and out through a close collaboration between Zeelander’s in-house design team and the owner’s chosen studio. The result is an exceptional blend of potency and comfort.
“Although our Zeelander 5 is a platform that has been well proven around the world, no two yachts are alike,” said Zeelander Founder and Chairman Sietse Koopmans. “This latest project called for careful colour and material matching with the owner’s favourite supercars and luxury brands to create a powerful yet coherent interior.”
As with so many Zeelander yachts, the owner is highly motivated to operate the boat themselves without the distraction of crew. Accommodation is therefore focused on the large master cabin, positioned amidships, where it benefits from the full 4.2m beam and the most peaceful position aboard. A further twin guest cabin forward offers extremely comfortable berths without impinging on the privacy of the owner.
Both cabins are decorated with high-gloss Greystone cabinetry and rich Macassar wood-effect detailing. Upholstery is in elegant Mirage Rustic fabric. In the owner’s cabin and elsewhere, the leather elements are finished in exquisite Bentley diamond and honeycomb stitching, featuring Hermes orange thread.
In fact, the Hermes connection is evident throughout the yacht, where the brand’s famous orange becomes a powerful theme that contrasts with the more controlled palette of the floors, furniture and upholstery. It appears in the stool and vanity table in the master cabin, the cockpit seating and the sunloungers on the bathing platform. But most striking of all is the vibrant Corian countertop which snakes around the starboard side of the main saloon. Hermes objets also accessorise the yacht.
Wrap-around windows echo the sinuous curves of the hull, providing 360-degree views from the saloon and an outstanding connection to the water. An automotive influence creeps in again with the Rolls-Royce-style starlight ceiling, whose pinpricks of gentle light bring the ambiance of outdoors inside. This is a far-sighted feature that allows guests to make the most of their evenings, even when the climate is too hot or too cold to be comfortable outside. Other totally unique features include a built-in humidor for his cigar collection and a lifting TV for movie nights on the aft deck.
Behind the wheel, this owner can look forward to an extraordinarily dynamic ride, yet one that is whisper quiet. Powerful Volvo IPS propulsion can achieve a maximum of 40 knots, while providing all the intuitive handling of its joystick control. Standards of sound attenuation that set the bar for the industry mean that even at full throttle, you can hold a totally natural conversation anywhere on board without raising your voice.
Zeelander is particularly pleased to have delivered this latest yacht to Turkey. The Dutch yacht builder’s fleet stretches to most parts of the globe, from Hawaii to Australia, but it is the first of the new Zeelander 5 design destined for the Mediterranean.
“We prize that truly unique interaction that comes from working with visionary owners who are leaders in their own spheres,” said Koopmans. “In this case the owner has a much bigger yacht, and is tremendously experienced when it comes to the details of living aboard. We were in contact for over three years to finesse this project. It is this which makes each yacht we build at once a unique collaboration and a highly sought-after possession.”
