Floating Life Expands Its Select New Build Portfolio with a Maiora M|30 and a 42m superyacht

Floating Life has been appointed as Surveyor and Owner’s Representative for two new yacht construction projects currently underway in Italy: a Maiora M|30 and a 42m superyacht. The projects reflect the company’s continued growth in the new build sector, following the creation of a dedicated division in September 2024 that now oversees four yachts under development, combining technical expertise with a more structured and proactive approach.

Floating Life has secured two new appointments in Italy, taking on the role of Surveyor and Owner’s Representative for a Maiora M|30 and a 42m superyacht currently under construction. The appointments followed a series of direct discussions with the owners, both experienced yacht clients looking for a close, hands-on and highly technical approach to the construction process. After an initial review of the projects and their contractual documentation, Floating Life and its team of specialists were entrusted with supporting the owners throughout the build process, coordinating technical supervision and managing the day-to-day relationship with the shipyards.

The owner of the Maiora M|30 will use the yacht exclusively for private cruising throughout the Mediterranean, with itineraries expected to include Sardinia, the South of France, Palma de Mallorca and the Italian Riviera. The yacht is scheduled for delivery ahead of the 2027 summer season.

The owner of the 42m superyacht, also an experienced European client, intends to operate the yacht both privately and commercially, with plans to cruise not only in the Mediterranean but also in the Caribbean. The project required extensive technical and contractual review in order to align the yacht’s specifications and classification with its intended dual private and charter use. Delivery is expected before the start of the 2028 summer season.

In both projects, Floating Life’s role extends beyond traditional surveying activities: Andrea Pezzini, Director and Co-Founder of Floating Life, and the company’s technical team are overseeing contractual reviews, technical specifications, construction supervision and communication flow between all parties involved, with the objective of protecting the owner’s interests throughout the entire build process.

“Today the role of the surveyor goes far beyond pure technical supervision,” said Andrea Pezzini. “In many projects, the surveyor’s activities increasingly overlap with those of the owner’s representative and often end up coinciding, effectively becoming a single role. This is one of the reasons why Floating Life is frequently initially appointed as surveyor and then progressively entrusted with broader owner representation responsibilities, thanks to its ability to coordinate owners, shipyards, suppliers and technical stakeholders throughout the entire construction process.”

With these two new appointments, Floating Life further expands its activity in the new build segment, where the company is currently involved in four projects under development within just eighteen months since the launch of its dedicated New Build Division in September 2024.

Created to structure and streamline an activity already carried out by the company, the division operates with defined procedures and action protocols designed to make the entire construction process more efficient and transparent. This approach is reflected in the ongoing development of a fully custom Baglietto 48m project, alongside additional tailor-made constructions, including dedicated chase boat concepts. As Andrea Pezzini notes, “very often, small details, written or not written, into specifications and contracts can dramatically affect the final quality, operational capabilities and long-term value of the yacht. This is why we deliberately manage a limited number of projects, maintaining a close relationship with our clients and dedicating each yacht the full attention of an experienced team.”

Through this diversified involvement, Floating Life continues to strengthen its reputation as a highly specialized boutique partner capable of combining technical expertise, operational experience and bespoke owner support across all phases of a yacht’s lifecycle.
