Marina Port Vell, the Mediterranean’s leading marina for superyachts, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Barcelona Port Heliport to provide clients with exclusive helicopter access to the marina.

The service is available both to clients arriving with their own helicopter and to those chartering private flights through the Barcelona Port Heliport. Passengers can land at the adjacent heliport and reach the marina in under three minutes by tender service.

This partnership extends Marina Port Vell’s premium range of services, reinforcing its positioning as a benchmark destination for large yachts in the Mediterranean and a preferential point of entry to the city of Barcelona.

The heliport, strategically located next to the marina, offers a seamless and exclusive mobility solution tailored to the needs of the most discerning clients. Services include landings for refuelling, passenger pick-up and drop-off, overnight aircraft stays, and private flights to select destinations such as Palma, Ibiza, the Costa Brava and the private aviation terminal at Girona Airport. In addition, the agreement includes tailored services for special events — such as helicopter transfers during the Formula 1 Grand Prix — and bespoke experiences for small groups.

This initiative is part of Marina Port Vell’s strategic vision to consolidate its status as a leading international marina, focused on delivering excellence across all areas of the client experience. The ability to operate from a nearby heliport represents a unique competitive advantage, enabling direct connections with strategic points along the Catalan coast and the Balearic archipelago.

A constantly evolving destination for superyachts

Marina Port Vell continues to consolidate its position as a premier international destination through its firm commitment to continuous improvement of its infrastructure and services. In July 2024, the marina completed its repositioning project and the associated investment plan launched in 2021, involving a €20 million investment to enhance its infrastructure capacity and the quality of its services for superyachts.

The transformation plan, which focused on optimising the water space, a landscaping project, and the implementation of a new fuel supply system, aimed to bolster Barcelona’s role as the Mediterranean’s leading yachting hub and a benchmark destination for large vessels. At the same time, it contributed to balancing and harmonising the different uses and spaces within the Port of Barcelona, specialising in the provision of services for superyachts.

Today, Marina Port Vell offers 73 berths for vessels of up to 190 metres in length and boasts one of the longest quays in the Mediterranean (400 metres). The marina also provides world-class services including 24/7 mooring assistance and security, a permanent reception desk and a concierge service, all delivered by a highly qualified team committed to excellence and attention to detail.
